I skipped the hospital this time but went to the doctor for heavy pain meds. I can not tell you how much pain this is. It is the bulging disc again. Anyone have back troubles?

Oh wow. I hurt my back for the first time a couple of months ago. I can't ever remember being in that much pain. I couldn't even stand up without my legs giving out. I'd much rather have given birth to a couple of 12 pounders then go through that. I've been fine since and I hope it never comes back.

I feel for you Philly, hurt my back a couple of times. The last time it was so bad I could hardly breath. I hope you get better soon.
Life's what you make it.

I have what Fred Sanford would have called "arthuritis" in my lower spine. I can't stand in certain positions for very long. Doing the dishes is a killer...slightly hunched over like that, my back will lock up in that position until it decides I have been tortured enough. I know the feeling.

Man this sucks! At least I know others know what I'm talking about. It has been one week but I don't feel any better. No work this week I guess.

When does this end?! I guess it is better than last week but I am still bent over like a pretzel. I did make some progress but this is frustrating. I don't even sleep more than an hour at a time.[}:)]

I've endured bouts of back pain for the past twelve years (degenerative disc). It flares up when I lift something heavy and/or get lazy & stop doing my stretches.
Last year I saw a physical therapist for the first time in a few years. His regiment of core stretching & exercises works very well for me. I've tried substituting pain pills in place of the workout, but they don't help.
I smoked a bowl a few months back while in pain, and that seemed to help. Or maybe it was just really good shit.
Find a therapist you like. My first two were awful.
Oh, and ice your back afterwards. Pain sucks; good luck, dude.

Thanks man, that looks like the way to go. I did not take any pills today and I feel a bit better. I could not stand being in a fog anymore.I can totally see why people get hooked. Not me man. The thought of smoking has crossed my mind too. But a note to everyone...be VERY careful with pain meds!

That "being in a fog" business is precisely WHY I could never get hooked. I've had pain meds once (after the Duster T-boning 2 yrs. ago), and the fog, the daze, the not-being-aware-of-my-surroundings was yucky and disconcerting. I could see how that works for some folks--not me, though. Pain sucks, though, and different things work for different people.
philly: you WILL feel better. Hang in there ![:X]
