[i]Fat handed rock lummoxes Oasis have finally been put out of our misery after splitting up yesterday (Friday).

The band, responsible for one good album, one alright album and a lot of cunting misery on top of that have split up five times before due to constant squabbling between the band's chief song writer Noel and genetically 'curious' singer, Liam.[/i]

Were these guys really any good? Sure, I've heard a few songs which seem to be nice throwbacks to Beatles melodies, but seriously, is their split really worth mourning over?

.. I never really could figure out why so many people rubbed-one-out over Oasis. They have always been somewhat over-rated IMO. They are legends in their own minds and (clearly now) always seemed to me as a bunch of small monkey-like twats rather than a band.

Never really cared much for Oasis. Liam Gallagher's whiny voice on every song was more than I could take.

Yes Oasis were very good. The live version of Acquiesce, not to mention Wonderwall, Don't Look Back In Anger, Cigarettes & Alcohol, Live Forever, Whatever, etc. were great songs and a big part of the non nu-metal 90's music scene.

Why the Oasis bashing just because they split? It's better than that "Doot Doot" shit many of those on the board here seem to favor.

Thurston Moore (talking about his daughter) : "She really responds to the goodness of their songs, yeah. She and her friends have their own stuff they like, but she really responds to that good, classic '60s stuff like the Kinks and the Who and the Beatles without us having to force the issue at all. She certainly has access to it because we have that stuff around."
