Is the NFL unwatchable?

Postby coop41 » Sun Oct 18, 2009 4:03 pm

maybe not yet but it's getting there. There are so many terrible teams this year it isn't even funny. 6 teams didn't score a touchdown this week. For the second week in a row, there was a game where neither team scored a touchdown. Hell, even the Raiders, who have what could arguably the worst QB in the league, have won 2 games. And do we need the throwback uniforms that look like Bingo Long And The Travelling All-Stars evry week? Props though for the Breast Cancer Awareness.

I'm so freakin sick of the throwback uniforms. Even the announcers during the nip-n-tuck 59-0 Pats-Tits game admitted it. It was definitely a horrendous weekend. Philly shouldn't be let back into their stadium. Ditto Washington. I hope by now everyone knows that every announcer who touts the Bungles or the Jets at the first sign of life is a complete hack. Still the best sport for having a brew with a bud though. Lots and lots to rant and scream about at the TV.

the older I get the more unwatchable ALL sports are getting. Just don't care like the younger days. Tired of the "thuggery".

Did they steal the Sounders uniforms? All it needs to say is XBOX on the front to be complete!

The Thuggery I guess turns me off but the ME generation of sports just kills me. Catch a 7 yard pass for a first down, stand up and do the Macarena like you just won the Super Bowl. Make a tackle and get up and act like you are the greatest thing since sliced bread. Give me a break, get back in the freakin' huddle and get ready for the next play. Your team is down 42 points.

Have to agree..but I still prefer it over the basketball thugs that cannot make a 15 foot shot but have no problem dangling off the rim like it's something special.

What's been killing it for me lately is the awful officiating, particularly the officials' uneven interpretation of the rules. You would think instant replay would alleviate the problem ... but in my eyes, all it has done is make it far more noticeable.

It's one thing to have a call blown by obvious human error ... like happens in baseball all the time. That's understandable and part of the game. But how these assclowns can still botch call after call after seeing multiple slow motion angles of the play in question and still have a job is beyond me.

It makes no sense to me that Hines Ward can catch a ball in the endzone, have complete control of it through the entire catch, hit the ground, roll over twice and have it come loose only AFTER he has rolled out of bounds ... and that gets called an incompletion. Hines had control of that ball long enough to listen to Prince's entire catalog, go downtown, buy some rims, shoot up a club AND rape a white chick but it still wasn't a catch. Yet in the Chargers/Broncos game, all Brandon Stokley had to do was make a catch with seemingly 1/1,000,000th of a centimeter of the ball being across the plane of the goal line for 1/1,000,000 of a second (which was NOT confirmed by replay by any stretch of the imagination) and somehow that's a touchdown.

This play was a crack up to me, of the 136 replays I saw for the ref to come and tell me both feet were in the end zone was laughable. I need a new TV or a pair of eyeglasses because I just never saw it.

The Chargers do have the best retro uniforms though, although they wear them so often I am not sure they qualify anymore.

My Saints are finally looking really good for once and you guys are talking about an unwatchable season, where's the love of the game? I've been a Saints fan for about 25 years and we have for the most part never had a team worthy of being a "top team" in the league. We've never been to a Superbowl but there are alot of very loyal fans in this town like myself.
So I'll continue to revel in the season(hopefully it'll last a little longer) we are having this year.
Miami with their "wild crap" offense my be a tough game this weekend! I hate that wild cat offense!

Yes the throwback Uni's are horrendous! Especially the Broncos with the yellow/brown striped socks! My wife was like WTF are they wearing!

An incredible game actually!

For me the NFL is never unwatchable. In fact, it's the only thing on TV I watch at all.
