I have little doubt that it was intended for the interviewer. Nice job by Mel, although I wish he just would have said "Yeah, I called him an asshole. He is one" instead of trying to worm his way out of it.

Actually it's only recently that Mel Gibson's been interesting at all. Prior to his arrest I just thought of him as a smiling goofus like that other 80's actors women used to go bonkers over, Tom Cruise.
