Mouse Clicking Problems

My PC mouse (digital) double clicks on almost everything, sometimes triple clicks, no matter how careful I try to be when clicking on something. Even with the right click, say when I am trying to rename a file, many times it will take 5 tries before it lets me rename a file, because I think the mouse clicked too many times. Really pisses me off and I know I can just go get a new one, but any ideas why it does this? Only about 3 years old, and I just want to make sure it is really the mouse before I replace it.

Any experts out there that might know what causes this?

Thanks

We got one of those & had the same stuff happen & if you give the edges all around with a blast of air it seems to clean that problem up.
Got tired of the ball type picking up duct & taking it apart to clean!
Also try to delete program & reload & see if that helps.....Always something!

Ha I got it! go to control panel & select the mouse part ,select "buttons" , then take the "Double Click" down to a lower level .
Now the mouse won't miss read the selection.I was getting 2 web browsers to come up at once & some files were jumping in to the player when all I wanted to do was drag & drop.Fixes that trouble.
A slaower double click speed![:D][:D]

3 years IS old for a mouse. mice and keyboards are (now) consumable items.

I'd say your mouse button is f***ed..... but definitely worth a clean first.. especially if you have checked the double click speed setting in your O/S (assuming you have done this?)
