Just amazed at the prices these days. $375 for this very competent system for example is fantastic. This would have cost $1000 2 years ago.

this is also a steal for a new unit like that with 2 lenses, 8GB card, camera bag, extra battery etc. My brother grabbed this deal for Chistmas and loves it. I have an old D40 I'm still using. Best money ever spent.

I frequently buy factory refurbs thru Adorama. Great deals.

so you've had good success buying refurb products? What types of things? Electronics mostly?

Only big-name factory refurbs like Canon or Apple.

Pretty amazing how far the dollar goes in digital photography these days. I just ordered a Nikon D700 and vertical battery grip a few days ago, supposed to arrive April 15th.

Also placed an order for Photoshop CS5, really looking forward to this upgrade with Content-Aware Fill it's going to be an amazing time saver for retouching... and on that note, I also bought an Eizo Color Edge CG241W monitor a few weeks ago, I had 11 large images to produce for 20x30" prints for a client and it was great to edit on a 24" monitor that is completely calibrated... having good tools does not make the photos, but it certainly helps make it easier.

As further testament to what's available now at the consumer level, the final episode of this season's House is being "filmed" with Canon 5D Mk IIs, the same camera I used to shoot recent HD concert clips of the Shout Out Louds, Mary Onettes, etc. That's kinda amazing.

[/quote]Wow, beautiful quality Blir... were you using a tripod? Also the sound was pretty clear, was the sound recorded right in to the camera or did you have an external mic, or record separately to an audio deck and sync up in post?

No pod but an image stabilized lens - it doesn't take away the gross movements but eliminates the jittery stuff. I also munged my sound settings so lifted it from another guy's Canon G10 who was closerto the stage. I'm hoping I got dverythig right this time at the Slow Children reunion.

I'm using a D40 I bought two years ago. I agree - best money I've ever spent. I know there are bigger and better cameras available, but it takes beautiful photos and is so easy to use. Love it!
