I first heard of Leki And The Sweet Mints about 3 years ago when their song Obsessive was being played regularly on my favourite local radio station. From the moment I first heard it I fell in love with that song. I tried to find out the name of the performer but I always misheard it. I typed some of the lyrics on Google and finally found the song on Youtube, with just the audio. Once I knew the name of the band I tried searching for it on the Ares downloading site but couldn't find it. I just found 2 other songs- Over The Rainbow and Love Another Day. Both are good songs but maybe mot as good as Obsessive. I tried and tried for some time but never found it.
But 3 days ago I remembered the song and searched for it on Soulseek, but I couldn't find it there either. But I immediatly remembered the You Tube to mp3 converter that someone in this forum recommended me. So, I finally could download the song.
She's Belgain and her style is somewhere between Pop, R&B and Soul and she has a great voice (she's as good as Adele, Duffy and Amy but but poppier and not as tortured)and The Sweet Mints are, as you might have guessed, her backing singers. And this song in particular is brilliant. It sounds so fresh in comparison with most that has been popular in the past few years (maybe because it features live instrumentation, where most of today's music is in the eletropop genere) which's weird as it sounds so vintage as well. It deserved to be a hit.

No, not NW in fact probably pretty far from what most of us NWOers like. It's the sort of thing that they play on top-40 radio everywhere. That's okay though, at least you brought something different to our attention, so good on ya. With that in mind... have you checked out Saint Etienne? They're not NW; it's pop music that appeals to a lot of us older music-heads. You might like them.

I've heard a bit about them (they're completly unknown here in Uruguay) and even read an interview with Sarah Cracknell a few weeks ago (in which she talked about her private life but not so much about thier music) but never felt curious enough to hear their stuff. Their style is classified as Dance Pop, right? But as you recomended thier music, I think I should search for it. Which songs/albums should I hear first?

Yes, it's pop music that can be quite dancey, and weirdly enough they have a fixation with Brian Wilson-- there are a lot of Beach Boys references in their song/album titles. My favorite LPs of theirs are So Tough and Good Humor. Also a good singles compilation is Too Young to Die.
