Request: non boring-white-boy-guitar-band music

Not that there's anything wrong with it, but I'm realizing part of my recent musical funk might be related to listening too much of said boring-white-boy-guitar-band type stuff that's populated the 2007 best-of lists. Don't get me wrong - I think 2007 was a great year in music. I just desperately need something different. Ya got any recommendations for something a little less noisey and with a little more keyboards, some rhythm and melody, some atmosphere, etc??

I listed 3 songs in my 2007 mix suggestions. Definitely melody and rhythmn in them.

I've been very excited about electronic act Simian Mobile Disco. Their 2007 release, Attack Decay Sustain Release, is pretty outstanding. Put on Hustler for a very future-forward electro-funk experience with yesteryear flavor.

Athlete has a great indie rock sound with heavy use of electronics. They're kinda like a Snow Patrol.

For some good French house music, try David Guerra. Calvin Harris, Hibernate, Dan Diamond, Guster and Peter Bjorn & John have all had great singles this year.

Thanks guys. I think I'm digging Athlete the most for now - maybe a bit neutral sounding but maybe just 'plesant' is what I'm looking for right now. I like the bits I hear of MGMT too - need to track down more. Cheers.

Edit: coincidentally, MGMT are playing Bottom of the Hill when I'm in SF later this month. I'll go verify what you're saying TB. [:)]
