One interesting comment on the Guardian that resonated with me:
"The mainstream guitar music scene is going to have to die or get really bad, because it's at the end. It's sort of like on the third wave of indie bands that's emerged from the British music scene, and it just sorta gets worse and worse and worse, and still derivative of the same influences...your Strokes and Libertines. Like the Cortinas are probably gonna be quite big next year...and they're just really an awful awful band."
Man, this is exactly the kinda thing I was feeling when I posted my thread about boring-white-boy-guitar-bands. There's gotta be something new coming on. It's been 8 years now since "The Modern Age" and "Last Night". What's next?? Is it that the end of decades generally suck like the 80s and 90s? Can't be - look at the 60s and 70s. I need something to WOW me!!!
