Best "Next Wave" Songs from this Decade?

Postby waldnorm » Wed Dec 02, 2009 6:50 am

I've noticed Blir has an inquiry of the top 100 further down below, but as someone who feels this decade was like a "lost" decade as far as culture was concerned-- I'll ask the following questions, as I figure out what future itunes purchases I may make just to sort of catch up--

1. Best next wave songs from this decade

2. While idiots praise Britney Spears or Justin Timberlake--what artist or band emerged and truly blew us new wave fanatics away this decade?

3. What is THE essential next wave album that emerged this decade, that truly should have revolutionized the possibilities of music/craft?

At this moment, I'd probably give the nod to Goldfrapp-- but I bet I missed something this decade. (And I did not first hear Utopia until two years ago--I missed it when it first emerged)!

I've spent so much time this decade trying to find and collect from the 80's (including many tunes that never appeared commercially and widely available on digital format), that I'm sure I missed a lot of great stuff from this decade, that of course Clear Channel, etc. would never play.

Of course, you can include the uh . . . old timers from the 80's (and 90s) that emerged on the scene and released interesting stuff this decade.

Thanks! :)
