Finally the poll option in this thread, a semi-dead thread actually, compared to others.
Here is a poll including two of the bands I like very much and that were discussed here earlier but never together.
Formed about the same time around 1998, in the same city, both released two or three albums.

Gotta go with the Strokes. Their sound and style seemed to launch this entire current generation of skinny guitar pop-rocker kids. "The Modern Age" literally seems to literally and figuratively herald in this next wave. I certainly like Interpol but don't know if their music has the edge and energy for me to keep coming back to it. I like more of Interpols individual songs, but I like the Strokes better as a band...if that makes snese.

Individually there are some Interpol songs I like very much, but as a collected body of work the Strokes' stuff is better. I'm also very fond of the "Hard to Explain"/Christina Aguilera mash-up [:D]

I like The Strokes very much but I've seen them live and they were not very good.
I like Interpol a lot and haven't been disappointed by them cos I haven't seen them live.

So I vote: Interpol

Had to go with Interpol, they are great live and like about 99% of the stuff they put out.

As for the Strokes, I was very let down after all the hype. They have a handful of nice songs, but they wouldn't make it on my iPod Nano [8D]

Lastly I always go with the band that sounds closest to the Chameleons [:D]

Interpol are good live, maybe a little stiff, but the sound and song selections were good. Still, they're no Franz Ferdinand. [;)]

I vote Interpol since I like most of their stuff and I really like how they sound and how melodical and rich in sounds some of their songs are.

And yes, sometimes they also remind me to The Chameleons and The Smiths... I guess that's another reason why I prefer Interpol, they sound more like old New Wave.

The Strokes are good too, but for me their sound has too much electric guitars and very little synths. I like few of their songs.

Have to pick Interpol, as I saw more growth in the second release. I listen to it a lot, two years later. Strokes came through on the third CD, but their second was not up to their other stuff.

I thought that The Strokes would win this one but I was totally wrong.
I have to say that we should definitively pay attention to Interpol´s third album in order to establish a better comparison.

They are actually both great, we all know, but somehow I think Interpol's music and appearence express the new wave and post punk better.
The Strokes, on the other hand, have different attitude that lead us more to the 70's rock.

The Stokes....Interpol...is a cliche.
