Hello! It's been a while, hope all of you have been well! I've been in the recording studio again, would love for you all to check out the 3 new songs we posted on our myspace page, the new songs are:

-All To Myself
-Just Disappear
-In My Room

You'd probably have more credibility and cause way less irritation were you to have posted this somewhere besides the[b] "<u>New Wave</u> And <u>80's</u> Discussion" Board[/b].

What it has to do with either is beyond me.

For that reason alone I will refrain from checking out your link and encourage others to do likewise.

Perhaps you should consider becoming more of a regular contributor here instead of just checking in when it suits your self promotion needs.

Yeah, the MySpace promotional posts have become one of the most annoying types of spam on message boards. It's obvious, shameless self-promotion. I think it's fine if someone has their MySpace/band website link in their signature, but I can't tell you how many posts I've seen where the person claims "sorry I haven't been here for a while..been busy in the studio..been recording..busy with rehearsals..been on the road", etc. Who knows, maybe you are really busy, but I see that similairly-worded post all the time, and it's the perfect lead-in to plug a band's website.

I think it's just a case of free Internet promotion gone out of control. It probably doesn't even seem wrong for these bands who are trying to do this as a career. I don't mean to be rude to this guy, but half of his posts here are Darvoset posts. I'm sure there's a lot of us here that are musicians who'd rather spend our time talking about New Wave than promoting our bands. It's the difference between willingly taking a flyer from a rack in a record store, and finding one stuffed under the windshield wiper on my car.

Totally agree. Like DJCraig said, it would be different if a guy who frequented this board a lot had a little side project going and wanted to give his pals a listen. This seems like a case of a guy who goes from one messageboard to the next.

I can't blame Darvoset for being a shameless self promoter, I can however blame precedence for his belief that this is acceptable. At the very least it will be tolerated, so mission accomplished Darvoset!

Darvoset, I moved the post here under "Next Wave". I saw you guys open for A Flock of Seagulls a few years back around the time that Joei Grissom and I were doing the ROF Promotions thing. I'll have to give those tunes a listen.

As for the chilly reception ... well, there are always gonna be those types but fair enough, your message is best posted here.

Indeed, some here prefer to make the sport of ridiculing others the bulk of their contributions on this board. Yawn.[|)]

Ah but it is not just arbitrary ridicule. We ridicule for a reason.

In this case it is because Midolset was in such a rush to self promote he disrespected The NW Outpost by indiscriminately posting in the most convenient place, instead of where his post belonged.

The movement of the post demonstrates tacit agreement on this point.

I do however, still reserve the right to ridicule anyone, anywhere for any reason...
