Meat Puppets cover R.E.M.

Stereogum does it again.
The popular music blog, which already curated a 10-year anniversary cover-album tribute to Radiohead's OK Computer, has now done the same for R.E.M.'s Automatic for the People, released 15 years ago (!). The tribute is called Drive XV.
Stereogum compiled another impressive list of indie bands (Rogue Wave, Blitzen Trapper and Shout Out Louds among them), and local music fans should take note: Arizona sons the Meat Puppets are included and they offer a gorgeous, somewhat off-kilter, rendition of Everybody Hurts, perhaps fitting given Cris Kirkwood's troubled past and subsequent revival (read the story).
Curt Kirkwood tells Stereogum of the cover:
"It's a tribute to Elvis too, on the 30th anniversary of his departure ... Puppets channeling R.E.M. channeling Elvis. Recorded in Rasputin's glass castle on Jupiter."
