Does anybody have any info or opinion on Yelle? I discovered this French dance / pop artist today and am totally enamored by Ce Jeu. All I can find are some cheesy home made videos on YouTube. Here's a live performance of hers. Not very polished but.....

Check out her MySpace page:

I have a feeling she'll be the new Goldfrapp [:0] Come on, bring the flame [;)]

Oh, I'm sorry. Did you somehow miss the part of YOUR OWN POST where you asked for opinions and wrote "Come on, bring the flame"?

I guess I was just expecting something more creative.

I'll get right on that. I didn't realize there were standards to uphold.

Yelle samples Heaven 17's Let Me Go for Ce Jeu.

Just sampled "Pop up" on iTunes. I'm with Dover. Pretty cheezy stuff in my opinion. Maybe those who thought the 90's sucked might dig it.

Oh those Frenchies...
Making cool music, bathing regularly and defending your country are not your strong suits.
Quit fucking around in that studio and get back to the kitchen/wine cellar where you belong!
Actually the song is not that bad. But any excuse to poke fun at The French is a good one.

Craig, what did you think of all the French electonica / electro acts that started coming out in the nineties like Air, Daft Punk, Superdiscount, Etienne de Crecy, etc.?

Hey Marv,
Air is pretty ethereal stuff, some of it just passes me by without making much of an impression- I do like:
La Femme d'Argent
All I Need
You Make It Easy
And Daft Punk has some fun, danceable songs- I had no idea they were French! If that makes me an ignorant American I stand guilty as charged...
The others I haven't heard of but I'm going to check them out. Tell me what you like about Superdiscount, Etienne de Crecy and any others.
