For you Ladytron fanboys - the free sample track "Black Cat" <a href="http://www.themodernmusic.com/2008/04/ladytron-velocifero.html">here</a> along with some commentary. My commentary of the album is that it's likely their best work. It feels like there's a bit more pop songcraft in there and less of the strictly sequenced feel. This makes the entire album much more palatable of a listen whereas previous albums had some truly great tracks, but I never wanted to carry more than 2 or 3 in my Pod. This one has a great run of six songs to start the album, with either "Runaway" or "Season of Illusions" being my early favorite. The former is maybe the most Human League-like. A definite pickup for fanboys and casual fans alike imho.

Thanks for the tip, just starting to get into this band.

I've only listened to the album once, but wasn't impressed at all.

The only track that stood out to me was "Deep Blue".

Thanks for the heads up, Blir. I haven't heard the whole album yet, but "Black Cat" does not at all strike me as an improvement in pop songwriting over the excellent "The Witching Hour". I'll have to give the rest of the album a chance.

Be sure to count how my times she sings "my little runaway" on Runaway.


I found it to sound similar to the Witching Hour, but with a heavier/noisier/dirtier production.

Just finished giving it a listen all the way through. I liked it much better that I thought I would after one listen to "Black Cat". My favorites are "I'm Not Scared", "Tomorrow", and "Burning Up", none of which are as good as the best tracks on "Witching Hour". What language is that on a couple of those songs?

I dld the album three weeks ago but didn't listen to it much. Not really in mood for Ladytron at the moment.

KCRW offers free streaming audio and videocasts of some of the latest and greatest cutting edge artists around in exclusive in-studio performances. The quality is much better than Youtube and they make it easy to embed it into a page or message board.

HTF can I not take advantage if that?

So I did some digging through the archives last night to see what I could find and got carried away. My loss (of sleep) is your gain!

Talking about music is one thing, EXPERIENCING it is another. Experiencing it, for free- what could be better?

As for your second question, I'm not sure but I don't think Ian needed it any longer...

HTF not indeed! I've watched every single one of those posts. I just thought there might be some other cool additional connection.

Witching Hour is mos def their best work. Velocifero is just "Runaway" for me.
