New Wave Outpost Forum

The Lost Patrol (from New York) are an ethereal, cinematic sounding ensemble based out of Piermont, New York. Their founder, Stephen Masucci is an old school Moog enthusiast and still records in the grand tradition of analog 8 track.

Their sound is lush and hypnotic. The best way to describe is them is one part Cocteau Twins, a pinch of Siouxsie, a few scoops of Mazzy Star. Throw in some Dick Dale/Shadows surf guitar and some Ennio Morricone spaghetti western twang. Now let that distill, and then fold in some Slowdive, Nancy Sinatra and Jefferson Airplane. Top it off with some David Lynch/Angelo Badalamenti atmosphere and you have a pretty good idea as to what they sound like.

Their new album (#7) is entitled "Midnight Matinee" and it features our new vocalist, Mollie Israel.

Thanks, djcraig! "Stars Collide" is 3 years old from the "Lonesome Sky" album, 2005. It's one of my older faves as well. The band does not have any proper videos, just a few live bits from a local gig from 2 years ago, not the greatest quality, but decent. If you search, "lost patrol sirens," "lost patrol voulez vous," and "lost patrol orbit," you'll find them on YouTube.

The band's new album is "Midnight Matinee," which features the band's new vox, Mollie Israel. The gal who sings on Stars Collide left the band in Sept. 2007.

Same here, Rand! Yes, do keep in touch should you head north. I've been meaning to get the band south too, but nothing panned out just yet. I saw Mel over the summer before she had the baby while the band was in b'more. talk soon.
