Who do these guys sound like? There's some Go-Betweens inflected new wavish thing going on here. I'm not sure I love 'em, but it has the kinda sound that I bet critics will jump on in 2010...

Seeing that there's a free Winter Mixtape here:

http://violens.net/

The tracks on this actually sound better than any of the individual videos I've seen on YouTube. I like it. Too bad they're playing Mercury Ballroom the same night Joy Formidable are at Terminal 5.

1. Full Collision
2. I See You / Only Shallow
(My Bloody Valentine sung by Violens over The Byrds)
3. Lighting Lightning
4. Could You Stand to Know? / Abysmal Depths Are Flooded
(Violens sung over Xasthur)
5. Could You Stand to Know?
6. Outdoor Miner
(Wire feat. Jorge Elbrecht of Violens)
7. Lighting Lightning
(demo version)
8. Trance-like Turn
9. Spectator & Pupil
(RAC remix)
10. Warm Collision
(feat. Caroline Polachek of Chairlift)
11. Doomed (MGMT remixes Violens)
12. Violent Sensation Descends
(Lansing-Dreiden remixes Violens)
13. Unfinished Business
(Violens remix White Lies)
14. Avenue
(Violens cover Saint Etienne)

I dig their sound, Blir. I have to say, I really admire your new music savvy. Keep the newness coming!

Hardly "savvy". I happened to be reading a White Lies gig review where the writer was quite taken by the Violens opener. Ooh, and good news that they're at Mercury on Dec 9th rather than Jan 9th. I think I'll go check 'em out.
