I thought they were from Birmingham, England until I saw them at SXSW and found out they were from Birmingham, Alabama.
Regardless, they kick ass. Download their 6 song album for FREE!

Yeah, I'm digging this too. Very nice find.

I really like the faux accents and the velvet-crush guitars. They remind me of a less punky Pluto, a band I really liked in the 90's that never got any attention.

Another great Vancouver band. You might as well move up here, Sally. Pluto had some great tracks...Paste...Regenerate...When She Was Happy...

http://wilfullyobscure.blogspot.com/ has some Pluto tracks...just do a search...

Canada does seem to have a disproportionate number of good bands compared to the US.

E.g., New Pornographers/AC Newman/Destroyer, Metric, Stars, Mother Mother, Arcade Fire, Les Breastfeeders, The Weakerthans, Sunset Rubdown, Unicorns, etc.

Man, this Vulture Whales album is as hilarious as it is infectious.

Yesterday and today I'm doing some tedious spreadsheet work, so I've been listening to tunes all day. The Vulture Whales have been getting some deserved heavy rotation.

Very quotable funny lyrics, too-- like Spinal Tap.

"My car is running in the driveway and it's pissing me off!" The tune "I'm So Sorry" is vaguely about male impotence.

"I'm the Mayor of Wasted, the killer of time...and I haven't shaved since we were in love...I'm shagging with my mind...."

I LOVE THIS BAND!

Yeah, totally fun music-- great for crankin' on the car stereo.
