Thanks Mtv - I didn't have the Nightlife Unlimited song.

I will post something later. I have about 8 hours of studying to do today.

Sorry, I'm late to the party! It's been pretty hectic lately.

Frantique - Strut Your Funky Stuff (1979). I love this song - it's got all the perfect elements of a great disco song - great, funky beat, awesome horns, sharp vocals, no filler & an incredible hook.

This was one of the hardest songs to find for me. Melody Stewart - Get Down, Get Down. It's unusual for a disco song to have such a heavy bassline on top of the song. Although it definitly sounds like it's from '79, the mix on the bass is pretty modern sounding. They weren't doing that type of thing back then. It gets pretty repetitive at the end - but it's still a great song & (I think) pretty rare.

I love Gregg Diamond - he's my favorite producer from the era. If you've heard Andrea True's More, More, More, then you're familiar with his sound. He put together a group with the embarrassing name Bionic Boogie, who put out some great, but overlooked classics. 1977's "Risky Changes" is considered one of the best songs to come out of the disco era. I agree - it keeps building on it's energy, lots of great hooks, great gospel-like vocals - and as always, the production is unlike most anything else that came out at the time. I'm not crazy about the "fresh & hot" vocal break, but I can overlook that.

If you like your disco with a new wave influence - here is Shock's "Angel Face" from 1980. I don't know much about them, but it's a great song!
