A request for some music

Discuss hard-to-find or out-of-print New Wave and '80s Alternative, and share a few songs along the way.
NOTE: requesting songs that are entirely unrelated to the genres discussed here or easily found on CD is strongly discouraged and posts will be enforced as needed.

That's ok, Mr. Prefab Sprouter. Let's keep this rolling before those self-righteous ^&*#@&*! start calling our attention for posting commercially available/ not very obscure music. [;)]

"Obscure80's/MFV, CD-R's & MP3 trading

Discussions about CD-R and MP3 trading, recording vinyl to CD/MP3, and the Obscure80's archive of music.

NOTE: Despite past abuses, the intent of this board is for discussing/sharing hard-to-find or out-of-print New Wave and '80s Alternative. Requesting songs that are entirely unrelated or easily found on CD is strongly discouraged and posts will be enforced as needed."

Peace [:D]

First of all, not everybody reads that part.

Now on to my main post:

I knew there would be plenty of violent reactions to my last post and I'm sorry if Mr. Prefab Sprouter or Grunch or other members got some of the heat. The main motivation behind this idea to stir things up a bit is that I think we're all taking ourselves too seriously especially the older members. When I joined this board several years ago, I loved the way people seemed to open up, having welcomed me, congratulated me when I said my first baby was born although I'm just a little brown boy from this little country in Asia whose idea of new wave at the time was New Order, OMD and Psychedelic Furs (I never considered Duran Duran or Spandau Ballet new wave, though). I loved the way that I can cut in on any topic and people will agree or disagree but there was none of the dirty talk. As I recall, back then, there were more active members from countries other than the US, Canada or UK, e.g. Portugal or Sweden (or was that another board?). But now, it's as if the board's set up just for a few people. Topics that have more than 20 replies are usually those with ugly exchanges of childish banter or outright attacks on certain members of this board. While we still welcome new members, we always assume that they know what new wave, obscure and out-of-print means. If their ideas don't agree with ours, we tell them to go look for other boards or make a mockery of their musical tastes.

Not everyone knows what is "hard-to-find or out-of-print New Wave and '80s Alternative" or "unrelated". Some of them just stubmled upon this board because they googled a particular song or artist they like and want to find out more about. Heck, not even the older members of the board agree on what is obscure. If we limit ourselves to tracks by artists that never came out with an album, then we can only share tracks by artists who suck so bad they were never able to put out an album (yeah, yeah, so some didn't really suck). If we limit ourselves to tracks that never came out on cd, then we'd only have vinyl-ripped - worse, cassette-ripped - mp3s to share. So let's cut the newbies some slack. If you really want to play it safe, let's post clearer guidelines (and sticky it with the subject: IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ) on sharing. That poll that was posted upstairs only muddles the issues.

As for proving my worth to this board, I didn't know people had to. But now that I know, I wouldn't take back any of what I said.

I would like to apologise if my requests offended anyone. I shall be sure to check the availability of artists before requesting in future!
