SHARE: Jade Fashions/The Heart Throbs (1983)

Okay I've got an obscure one here.

In 1983 Overture Records put out two EPs by essentially the same band. In fact their catalog numbers are back to back. OV 12002 and OV 12003. First up is Jade Fashions. Glammy synthy dancy and gothy. They recorded two songs "Pretty Boys In Pink" and "Babbitry Prevision" which includes the lyric "Dreaming of Kate Bush, the Goddess, the God." and later on "Breathing Kate Bush, you seduce my senses" Enjoy it here

The trio of Aaron Jade, Lee Simon and Robbie Carrera were joined by Scott Christy, Chris Christy (not THAT one) and Les Lester. Yes Chris Christy and Les Lester. The sextet called themselves The Heart Throbs and recorded a 5 song EP of New Wave power pop. The artwork is something else. Check them out here:

These guys are from Detroit, Michigan. Heartbeat was released as a 7" and one of the other EP tracks was the b-side. Can't remember which. Here's the tracklist

Thanks for this share, I thought their Jade Fashions EP was their only release. Detroit USA is one unlikely place I'd expect a New Romantic band to come from.

Speaking of Detroit bands, one release that's eluded me for YEARS is the EP titled "Paradise and other four-letter words" by the Detroit-based group, "Figures on a beach". Have you ever come across it? I used to own the cassette MANY years ago, and since lost it. After some digging, it seems it was a cassette-only release by the band:
