Request: Panic - S/T LP, 5th Wheel Records (1983)

This gem is so rare, it doesn't even have an entry on Discogs. The EKG-style front cover clearly suggests great synth wave music. The band seems to come from either North or South Carolina. If anyone out there is willing to share this album, that would be fantastic. Thanks a million!

I have the vinyl somewhere. I'd see if I can rip it this weekend. Cheers

I warn you it's not a very good record though :D it's one of those bands that was kind of lost, not knowing what style to play. They are trying to sound new wave as it was hip but music sort of sways twords garage rock/power pop. It was a recipe for disaster back in the day.

Back in the late 70's and the early 80's, the record companies and the bands themselves were guilty of falsely marketing Power Pop as New Wave. I hated Power Pop until about 10 years ago, because I felt duped by the record companies and the bands. Back in the late 70's and the early 80's, except for used record stores, the mall record stores sold albums that were sealed in plastic and if the record wasn't being played on the radio you had nothing to go by except the artwork and photos on the album cover. These Power Pop albums were fashioned with a strong New Wave look and style when most of these bands were merely Pub Rock, Glam/Glitter, or Garage Rock bands. Some of these bands received some popularity by the middle of the road music listeners that thought real New Wave like, Ultravox and Gary Numan were just too weird at the time. Power Pop bridged the gap and transition from Rock to New Wave for most of America.
