Re: FALCO Rock Me Amadeus [The American Edit] 3:10

Apologies if I seem ungrateful it is just the situation is rather confusing.

We have the normal German 7" version found on countless compilations. I believe this is the Gold MIx. It runs to 3:22 or 3:23.

However I have found another version that runs to 3:22 and probably ignored by people thinking it is the Gold Mix. This mix in fact sounds like the UK version that I grew up listening to in the 90s. You can tell from the first few seconds as the UK version starts with the female vocals. However Anfunny also pointed out the 3:10 American Edit which sounds like an edit of the 3:22 UK version (not the 3:22 German version). Maybe it was sped up?

I can never find the "UK version" in excellent quality, either in its 3:22 or 3:10 form. Actually the youtube clip that Anfunny posted seems to have the best version of it.

Maybe I am splitting hairs but the rips sound a bit ropey. Maybe the transfer from the master was poor?

If any Falco experts can help it would be appreciated and thanks to everyone for the rips.

Anfunny hasn't posted since but he has mentioned the compilation on another forum. The 3:10 American Edit can be found on 80s Explosion, a rare CD from 1995.

Done some research on my HD guys... There's versions of Rock me amadeus on VA: One shot 80 Volume 9 (2000) (3:20), VA Pop & wave presents 3 from 1 (12" American edit) (2012) (5.50) and VA Synth Pop (2015) (3.19)

I haven't posted on this board for ages - I quite forgot about the Falco track! My apologies. :oops: I only really pop in to the 'News, Reissues & Compilations' board these days and rarely visit here! So, anyway... the CD I found this edit on is 25 Years Of Number 1 Hits Vol. 8 1986/1987;

...and, better late than never, here is a WAV file!

As you'll find, it's 3:12 to be precise. I'm happy this is the UK 7" mix, which is listed as 3:10 on the 7" label.

Thanks for the rip from 25 Years Of Number 1 Hits Vol. 8 1986/1987. It was sourced from vinyl; there are ticks at 0:01, 0:02, 0:13, 0:37, and many others... also some minor clipping. Still, it's the right speed and it sounds better than my rip. Someday I may try again with my new Jico stylus...

Well ho ho ho, Santa is coming a little early this year since you've all been so well behaved!!!

This whole discussion prompted me to pull out my old USA 7" and see what all the fuss was about. Somehow I had totally forgotten about "The American Edit" after all these years!

So I decided to try re-creating the mix. I used the Salieri Mix found on the USA "Falco 3" CD (from my personal CD collection) and "The Gold Mix" found on the "Falco 3" European CD (found this in lossless FLAC). A snip here and a snip there and it was finished.

However, "The American Edit" mix released on the USA 7" is actually sped up compared to the original versions so I had to increase the pitch 80cents to duplicate it perfectly. Also, the version on the 7" fades out much faster, so I also duplicated that on the re-pitched version. So here now are both of my re-creations of "The American Edit":

"Rock Me Amadeus (The American Edit)" 3:12 WAV
https://www.sendspace.com/file/mn8dx5

"Rock Me Amadeus (The American Edit/Original Pitch)" 3:23 WAV
https://www.sendspace.com/file/mqibof

Thanks for reminding us all about this mix - I must have got used to the Salieri Mix and The Gold Mix and forgot that this one actually incorporates BOTH of them so we get the best of both worlds!
