Here is a fun infectious little tune from a Rhode Island band that I never got around to seeing. From what I know of them I believe they were a duo but I am not sure. I heard this originally on one of the local college stations at the time--never became a hit though.

Another Rhode Island band from the mid to late 80's was Rash Of Stabbings. Mr. Avery was one of their better known songs--again--only got college radio airplay from what I remember.

One last song for now--just because I was a Rods And Cones fan--one more song from them. I actually liked this tune more than the one I previously posted--Infatuation With Love. This is from 1985.

Speaking of The Schemers, I was pretty irritated the year they won the WBCN Rumble. I mean, the criteria was supposed to be that the band was based at least somewhere in the vicinity of Boston. They weren't even from Massachusetts. Later on, I put all that aside after I grew tired with the Massachusetts bands that were winning the Rumble, and "Remember" and "Streamline Heart" kinda grew on me.

If I recall correctly, Bop Harvey was a band that relocated to Providence from somewhere else in the US (out west, perhaps). They wanted to be close to Boston and NYC, so they chose Providence. Being at Brown U. at the time, I remember when they showed up on the scene, and I saw them many times.

You may be right about that-I'm not sure. I just know I loved that tune the first time I heard it.

If you check out Coops blog you will find the Blind Dates "Don't"--song that I highly recommend--This tune is Second Chance--not nearly as good in my opinion-the flip side of their single "Radio" which I will get up in time.

Yeah these guys did relocate to Providence, I had the pleasure of booking them for one of my shows at The Country Club in LA when they were the support act for Bim Skala Bim's almost last west coast tour.

I liked it that the 3rd and 4th wave ska bands play and pay homage to the original '60s ska, like Vibe's sound. Don't get me wrong I like 2-Tone, just not all the time/all day long...
