Dekka Danse - Waltz in The Wilderness

Hello all - new to the board.

I was wondering if any information was confirmed when the Dekka Danse members showed up on the boards? (like if the members were in any other bands besides "kybosh")

I just added Waltz In The Wilderness & Soul Separation to Discogs [ http://www.discogs.com/Dekka-Danse-Walt ... se/2312732 & http://www.discogs.com/Dekka-Danse-Soul ... se/2312558 ] and wanted to make sure I had the correct info.

Kerry, like I stated here before, it seems like while we, the 80's fanatics, are stuck back in time and still crazy about that music, most of these bands/members have moved on with their lives. [:D] At least this was the case with Dekka Danse as John Innes disappeared as fast as he possibly could and could not care less about our excitement. [:D]

So far I've had decent luck contacting people [ like Mark Christian of 'Dial M' who was very surprised people still cared but was more than happy to talk about it .] So John, if your still out there, their a few of us that just want to acknowledge your music & find out basic info [like the names of the band members.] It will be painless I promise [8D]

Hey Jon, man that's a lot of information. [:D] Don't overwhelm us please. As you see this is a very hot topic in this forum and people would love to hear about the band, from the members. There are many questions that we have. Now if you are the real Jon Smith, have you guys thought of a remastered CD release? Although I think CBS probably has the master tapes. Maybe Cherry Red can be approached to do this?

I have a small update. Wrote to John Watts (Fischer-Z) and he confirmed the Alan Morrison that played on his 'Reveal' album is the same Alan from Dekka Danse.[:D]

Ouch! Danielwaver my apologies for disappearing and my thanks and appreciation to you and yours for keeping the Dekkadanse thing alive. I am putting together some new material at present. It's a slow process because we've got other lives and are learning about home digital recording as we go. Once complete we want to publish it somewhere (my space?0 and would love to get your feedback. I will try to be more diligent in keeping the thread going in future. Apologies again.All the best! John

I am interested in knowing who was in the band and if they went onto other projects (I am trying to connect the dots with names so to speak: http://www.discogs.com/Dekka-Danse-Walt ... se/2312732 .)

What I know from the Waltz In The Wilderness LP:
Vocals - yourself & Jane Johnson
Bass - Eric Grant
Drums - Dave Scott
Guitar - Alan Morrison (which as you saw from above I know he was on Fischer-Z's "Reveal"
Keyboards - Jon Smith
Percussion - Frank Ricotti

Now I don't know from that list besides yourself who was a core member & who was maybe a session musician. I am hoping until you put up a website, Discogs could house correct data =)

Any info would be helpful!

Hi Kerry
I think that:
Eric still plays in a band in Aberdeen Scotland.
Jon is an Art Teacher in Brighton
Alan does sound engineering
Dave don't know what he's up to
Jane don't know what sh'e up to
Frank was a session musician - didn't know him that well.

The guy who replaced Dave Scott on drums was called Chuck Sabo - he has a My Space and is a very well known session drummer and Producer. Have a look. Our management company was called Checkmount whose other 80s act was Flock of Seagulls - yes really!

So 3 more quick questions - what are the origins of the band (country or city)? What year did you start? Were you always called "Dekka Danse"?

So Kerry the band is from Aberdeen in Scotland.
It was originally called the Shapiros and had a single called "Waitress in a Hotel" I guess it was formed about 1976??!!
