Hi everyone,
a few weeks ago I saw that Stephen (aka erucsbo aka obscure) had posted inaccurate things about me here in this thread.

In fact, I am pretty sure that he himself would call what he posted slanderous, based on how he has reacted to things written about him, here and at other forums.

I'm the Swedish guy Stephen is referring to when he says that he has only ever received negative feedback from 2 people in 10 years on Ebay.

Anyway, when I saw what he had written I e-mailed him and asked him what was going on and why he had posted an inaccurate story. I didn't want to jump into any public posting and figured that we'd solve this privately,

I was hoping that he'd explain himself (and perhaps even apologize) privately but he has had almost 3 weeks to respond to my e-mail but hasn't bothered to do so (despite a reminder), so based on that I guess I will have to correct his story publicly for him.

Given how he himself apparently reacts to things that are written about him, and how he treats other people in public, I'm sure he will have no objections to me correcting the facts for him.

To quote him, I supposedly am
<br>a Swedish Minimal Synth collector who would buy records, and then if the record didn't sound exactly like experimental products would want his money back, but unlike you he would keep buying records. So in essence after I refunded him money which was much more than $40 he gave me 11 negative feedbacks. One on each record he bought on the last go around, and that is after he had money from me. That was very nice of him, but I have blocked his user handle so I should be fine now.
Well, what really happened is the following; I bought 35-40 records from him during a 3 month period last year and I gave him the benefit of the doubt at first (incl positive Ebay feedback despite various kinds of problems with the transcations) but as it gradually became clear what he was systematically doing (and that he was not going to change his ways despite input from me in private) I started to object more strongly to the way he was running his business.

So it is true that I eventually objected to being sold far too many records that were not even remotely what the item descriptions said that they would be. I received prog rock, indie rock, punk, even country and western, and other genres of music, all sold as being great and rare minimal synth and/or new wave.

But I never asked for a refund for any of those misrepresented records, so I never got any money in return from him for that reason.

At the time I had no idea who Stephen was, so I bought stuff from him in good faith and trusted his item descriptions. I did not know that it is a known fact (at least in a small circle) that his item descriptions can far too often not be trusted.

I love discovering new music and was buying stuff that I was not familiar with already, so I had to trust the item descriptions.

But regarding many of those records I bought, the only minimal synth thing about them was that the amount of synth on them was indeed minimal.

His reply was basically along the lines of "yeah, but if you just buy enough records from me, then statistically at least some of them should be good".

I did ask for, and got, a refund from him once though, for a couple of records that were significantly overgraded, but that's it. The refund was in the form of a store credit of $84.

He then sent me records worth $44 and promised to send the rest of the money via Paypal, but that never happened (and I don't care about it anymore, he can keep that money).

It is also true that I gave him negative feedback on Ebay for a number of items, but never because of deceptive item descriptions (even though he surely would have deserved that too).

I won't go into any details about the reason for the negative feedback that I actually left, let's just say that there were other parts of his business conduct that became unacceptable over time too.

But I guess everyone knows that feedback history is publicly available on Ebay, so that information is available there.

Now, whether Stephen has really only ever received negative feedback from 2 people on Ebay I will leave unsaid. But I do clearly remember that there were at least 3 other users who posted negative feedback around the time when I did that too.

Theoretically that could be the same person with 3 different user names of course.

I also know that Stephen didn't have a 100% positive feedback score before that either.

Anyway, that's it, sorry to use the forum space for more of this stuff but I'm done now, I just wanted to get this off my chest so this guy doesn't think that he can just make up whatever he likes about anyone as he goes along. And I really hope anyone else who deals with Stephen has a much better experience than I did.

Now onto something more fun; let's see if that Seeing Red re-issue does indeed emerge. I would also buy a copy for 7 EUR, it's a pretty cool single, although not really among the best ever made, imho [;)]

Regards,
Thomas

Wow...that sounds familiar. Seems erucsbo posts inaccuracies about his clients, his eBay auction descriptions and the content of his character (not to mention his business ethics). No wonder he's trying to escape the "erucsbo" tag at eBay.

Hi Thomas,

Don't know what part of Sweden you live in (me I'm so lucky as to live in collector paradise Germany), but fleamarkets and bargain bins of shops are also great spots to discover new stuff.

Even if you can't listen to the records, you can still do the math of cover art, label, year of release, instruments used etc etc.

And if it doesn't work out, well all you spent on the item is a whopping Euro (or 10 kronas in your case).

So even a trip to a major Swedish city might come in cheaper than buying country music for big bucks from the obscures of this world. [;)]

Hi Falck,
hehe, yeah... [;)]

I live in Stockholm, so theoretically it should be the best city in Sweden to go record hunting in since it's the biggest city in Sweden. I'd say that it's OK but that Gothenburg (and perhaps even Malmö) has always been far ahead of Stockholm when it comes to finding good places to buy records.

I've been record shopping (in any larger scale) since the mid 80's but have never really found the local flea markets to be very useful for finding good music though (and these days there are hardly any flea markets left). Also, most record stores have closed in the past 10 years (among both those that sell new records and those that sell used records) but there are still a few good stores left that I visit, and sometimes I find something nice to put in the bag [:)]

There are also a couple of good record fairs every year, but they are few and far between.

Historically speaking, a lot of music (within the genres we're talking about in these forums) that is today considered as rare from Germany, Belgium, Holland and the UK made its way here in the 80s (via small record stores that imported the stuff directly) and is still floating around on the used market here but the rare and not so widely spread stuff from places like North America, France, Spain and Italy never really made its way here, so that kind of stuff is much harder to find here.

But that's where the internet is great of course, to open up new markets for both sellers and buyers across the world, that would never have found each other otherwise.

The internet is also great since it's open 24/7 and I guess that many of us have much less time to spend in record stores etc these days, due to increasing work and family/kids obligations. That's certainly the case for me anyway.

But as you say, there is a certain element of risk involved with the internet too, since there are some sharks in the water. But also a lot of good folks! Fortunately, in my experience most folks are good and once you identify someone who's not it's of course easy to stay clear of them.

At least until you find them posting stuff about you in one of the forums... [;)]

Hello again,

It is interesting to see Thomas declare to the world that he is one of the two other record collectors besides eight6 that I never want to deal with again. It is also interesting that as soon as he finds out on a public forum that I never want to deal with him again then he starts emailing me, and then posts on this forum slander against me. I did not name the person from sweden that I never want to deal with again, but now I'm sure you can see why. Anyone that posts slander against a seller or other collector on these forums comes across as a cowardly wimp to the rest of the world. As adults they should just let go. If they we're unhappy with their purchases, and don't want to buy from me again then so be it. I am unhappy with both of their emails, and slander against me. I think it shows what kind of people they are. Anyway just so everyone knows the two synth collectors I never want to sell records to again are:

David- (eight6) from Canada

Thomas- (teepeee) from Sweden

I can say from experience that these are two collectors that I will not deal with again, and I don't think other people will enjoy the experience either. I don't have to say why. You can judge from their posts.

When it comes to records.
I have made the following bands money for their records which was paid directly to them. I also got these bands records into collectors hands.

Dark White
Dorian Grae
Inner Landscapes
Mark Lane
Seeing Red
Sons and Lovers

I would like to ask eight6 how many bands he has made any money for?
and how many records he has distributed to collectors?

From what I have read on this forum he seems to be proud of stealing money from bands by file sharing any rare record he can get his hands on such as Iron Curtain, or Class Info. I also know from seeing what he purchases that he collects multiple copys of rare records. I do not know the reason. I just know that he has two copies of Dark White, and Class Info, and therefore other collectors that want those records cannot have them.

In terms of my descriptions on ebay I do not hear anyone arguing that Dark White, or Seeing Red are not minimal synth records. Everyone knows that minimal synth has become the moniker for synth records on ebay. And what is a synth record? I consider any record to have analogue synths on it to be a synth record. Even if there is only one song with analogue synths, or the record is a new wave record or whatever genre. If it has analogue synths then there are synth collectors that will be interested in it. There are many collectors that are purist that do not like guitars at all, but there are also collectors that really like synths with guitars, and bands such as Class Info, and others that are as far away as you can get, but still include some synths.

Anyway, these two will be losing out on a lot of great records from me because of their actions. I know both David, and Thomas wanted the Seeing Red record. If you want to believe their cowardly slander on this forum, and not my 100% feedback then that is your decision. But I can assure you that you will miss out on some of the best minimal synth records in the world because of it. Thats all I have to say.

Yeah, kinda sounds in line with my impression of Stockholm. [;)]

Last year, I camped out with Tina/Cybergirl to watch the Nouvelle Culture gig organised by her. As a side note here, any lover of minimal synth should check out Jacky's old stuff at www.myspace.com/fusionfatale

I also did a couple of shops but unfortunately I didn't find anything interesting.

Berlin on the other hand is a different story of course. Many collectable bands come from Berlin to start with. Needless to say, there's also an unproportionally high number of hunters around.

But I can assure I still find loads of items that I prefer over the Seeing Red 7" and that don't come with a USD 622.- tag..... [:)]

Pot calling the kettle black. You're the thief, everyone here knows it. That's why there hasn't been one post endorsing you, your comments or your business ethics. I guess you ensure you NEVER have 2 copies of any vinyl item...the BIGGEST load of shit I've ever seen posted here.

Yeah, right, and every one of those records is a killer minimal synth record sure to be on everyone's list by next year. You've abused people's trust in your descriptions & gradings. If you did nothing wrong, I'd say let your reputation speak for you...the trouble is, your reputation IS speaking for you, and it's not at all flattering. That's why you're here (again) doing damage control.

I know both David, and Thomas wanted the Seeing Red record.
It's a big world...I'm sure one will turn up.

Thats all I have to say.

Another goodbye...you keep throwing these around like "last" copies of rare minimal synth records on eBay.

Eight6,

Why?

It’s all been said and done really.

Obscure walked in minimal synth pope on the Minimal Wave board and got carried out minimal synth shark. We know that in his universe it is no contradiction whatsoever to accuse other people of cowardice while having set up an entity called “The Minimalsynthpolice” to anonymously make wild accusations himself.

All he still can do really is try to achieve full circle so people will buy from him simply because he’s the worst. Very much like people who will ask for the worst pub in town.

BTW, don’t know if you’re familiar with Terry Pratchett’s Discworld and that “Cut-me-own-throat Dibbler” character? Now if that one was real, I’d buy a “meat product” off him for the very same reason, but bloody hell, I wouldn’t dream of eating it. [;)]

To conclude, now while you can’t keep obscure from posting, what you can do is keep him from posting a reply.

Hello once again,

So there you have it. David answers my response with more slander, and does not respond to either question.

So unless he answers the question I will assume the amount of money he has made for any band is.

$0.00

And the amount he has stolen from bands through file sharing is:

well over $1000

because I know both Iron Curtain, and Class Info records (which he claims to have shared on here) go for a lot of money.

I on the other hand have made many bands money, and also made their records available to collectors.

I have also made a lot of unknown minimal synth bands become known.

I also do not steal music which equals money from bands, and call it sharing. I do not listen to mp3s or use soulseek or any other file sharing platform.

I also only collect 1 copy of any minimal synth record unless there is a sleeve variation. I do not keep more than 1 copy of any record, and I seriously do not know why anyone would.

I have asked eight6 the question of why he hordes multiple copys of records many times, but he will not respond to it just as he does not respond to the question of how much money he has made any band.

Anyway, I deal with and have dealt with all the most serious minimal synth collectors, and I will continue selling and trading with them. No matter what eight6 says on these or any other forums it will not change that.

I just feel sorry for him that he has so much hate and hostility over a record. When I was saying I will never deal with him again that is the reason, and I'm sure that everyone that is reading this can see that it is a legitimate reason.

If I know him like I'm sure you all do he will respond to this post with more slander, and hate, and not answer either of my questions. If he does answer the questions, and does not continue posting senseless slander then I'm sure everyone will be happy including me. So I will leave that up to him.

Hey erucsbo, is that true that you sold country music records labeling them as new wave? [:D] Then I have a new wave record for you if you want to auction it on ebay. The band called BoneyM and the single is called Ma Baker. It's hell of a minimal/synth/new wave track. E-mail me so that we can work this out. [:D] By the way I have some news for you. I have decided to post Seeing Red's single as a torrent so people can have a chance to download and enjoy it. As my torrents are very popular amongst new wave/minimal lovers, I am sure it would get tons of download. This will save them the chance of dealing with "sharks" like you on ebay. [:)]

Danielwaver,

I'm not interested in the Boney M record, but there definitely might be someone that is, and I am not going to post slanderous remarks on forums about you if you list it on ebay under minimal synth/country.

I will suggest that you don't post the Seeing Red record on your torrent, because the band is about to put it on Itunes, and once it goes on your torrent then you will be essentially stealing money from them. If you don't believe me ask the band member that is posting on here. Its up to you if you want to steal their money, but I would advise against it. Especially since they know you will be doing it, and they can come after you.

erucsbo, let me make it very clear to you:

I WILL post this torrent unless I hear from band members asking me not to do so. I respect the artists but unfortunately can’t respect a scammer like you. Besides I have followed your responses on this board and noticed how you have insulted a few nice people I know on this board including fiftypercent and eight6.

Now about putting this as a torrent, I honestly think you are more concerned about your own financial loss over this single. I can visualize a few copies of the single gathering dust on your shelf forever. [:D]

So I will wait for a few days, if band members have no objection to this, and if I don’t hear from them on this board, I will post it on thepirtaebay.org and its title would be "
The Rarest New Wave Single....Ever?" [:D]

And you also need to get a "legal life". I live in a country where file sharing is not illegal. So keep your BS threats for yourself. Your comment just made me more determined to post this. By the way I can still send you the song Ma Baker for free. I think you like it as the lyrics are about a notorious (female) criminial. It fits your description very well :D It goes like:

They left a trail of crime
Across the u.s.a.
And when one boy was killed

She really made them pay
She had no heart at all
No no no heart at all

Ma ma ma ma - ma baker - she taught her four sons
Ma ma ma ma - ma baker - to handle their guns
Ma ma ma ma - ma baker - she never could cry
Ma ma ma ma - ma baker - but she knew how to die
