Back in the early and mid-80's there were a number of Seattle bands we'd flock to see every weekend. The Heats/Heaters, The Rangehoods, The Eagertones, The Cowboys, The Allies, and many more.

My old Rangehoods "Rough Town" EP cassette broke eons ago and I've been on the lookout for any and all mp3 versions of the music these great bands put out. Any help is greatly appreciated!

I was wondering if you could help me out? I know I posted my question in another thread but when I saw your nicknmae I had to get a hold of you. Do you recall the show "Almost Live" they had a band on from Seattle or a video that had a blond female singer in a silver suit and lyric was something"in the twilgiht zone". Does that ring a bell? I'm racking my brains I think the group had the name "Image" in it. Anyhow I use to listen to KYYX 96.5 all the time from Canada. Thanks for your help

Screaming Maggot, a few years ago Chuckie Boy records released "Jet City Rockers" by the Cowboys and "Smoke" by the Heats. Both are available at amazon. Steve Pearson also has a solo album, which I haven't heard yet.

I DO remember that video you're talking about...it got played on that Local Music video show (name escapes me at the moment) that KYYX plugged. It's...it's....ah hell, I cannot remember right now. Let me think about it and do some searching. I'll try to post back, and good luck in your search.[:)]

Hey KYYX4ever--might the local music video show you're thinking of be Bombshelter Video? The only other one I can think of is Rev, which aired on Channel 5 and was kind of a predecessor to Almost Live.

Sloppymess, you're thinking of Visible Targets. The song was "Twilite Zone" or something like that--I can't remember the exact spelling. It was on Park Avenue Records, because the band's manager owned the record store of the same name.

REV (rock entertainment video) was hosted by Roger Fisher (of Heart) and also featured "the rocket report" hosted by John Keister (of Almost Live. simulcast in stereo on KYYX

You're right, barrisfan and thank you for the detail. I actually auditioned to host REV and might have gotten it except for the very small fact that I sucked. Besides, how could I have had better NW credentials than a member of Heart!? [;)] Seriously, all I remember is doing some intros, interviewing Fisher on camera and 'thank you very much for coming.'

As I recall, the plan was not to have him host the show--he was supposed to be some sort of consultant. I think that the producers just never found anyone who they liked, so he got the job by default. I heard years later that they liked John Keister, but they didn't think he had the "look." Fisher, of course, looked the part of a rock star and John...not so much.

I don't know, does that CD have the studio versions? Well, so as not to incur marie's wrath (and, besides, it's kind of stupid to rip something that's on CD -- certainly with my "talent" for it), I'm not going to do those. But I'll be happy to post the 3 tracks from the LP that aren't on the CD, "Break These Chains," "City of Angels" and "In the Street."

Awesome to see so many fans of the early-mid 80's Seattle/Portland scene. The above mentioned bands were all fantastic live acts.

SomebodySomewhere, the Johnny & The Distractions cd is a 1989 rerecordng of songs from their early 80's lps. According to the liner notes, A&M Records wouldn't reissue "Let It Rock" on cd, but instead gave the band permission to rerecord songs from their first couple of lps and issue them on a local Portland label. The versions are reasonably good, but Johnny's voice isn't quite up to the original versions.

For you Allies fans, bandleader Carl Kinkaid (sp?) reissued the full length "Allies" album on cd through his website several years ago...and it does contain Emma Peel. I don't recall the website name, but cd's from his next band The Brandos are also featured, so that may work as a search word on google.

Finally, it's great to see some Crazy 8's fans here; what a great band! I have all of their cd's, except "Out Of The Way". Does anyone know if that was ever reissued on cd with all the other albums? For those who are interested, they had a great compilation cd on Amazon until recently called "Still Crazy After All These Bears". I think the 2nd reissue of "Law And Order" is still available. The cd includes the original 1984 Law and Order ep, along with 1992 rerecordings of the same songs. One of my all time fave album covers...Ronald Reagan dressed in cowboy duds, with a couple of nuke missiles packed in his gun holster!

Thank you, dave. So then, marie, would you be fine with rips from that? Thought I had Johnny Koonce's solo album from '83, as well, but I couldn't find it. Maybe it's packed.
