wow. i tuned in right at the beginning of a 4 song flashback this morning on their morning show. i missed the first song didn't get the name of the second which was depeche mode sounding and was followed by tak talk "it's my life" and a good pet shop boys

Yeah, that's the set I caught too, but you've just committed one of the most common errors in song ID - "Send Me an Angel" is by Real Life not Pet Shot Boys. The original came out in 1983 (!) - pretty advanced stuff for then - but then the remix came out

I have been an LIR-DRE-LIR fan since the 80's. Now with a 2 and 1/2 month old and a 2 and 1/2 year old, I listened to the station whenever I had the chance. I was so sad on Jan. 10th to find it was gone. I has no idea this was going to happen. Is there

The WLIR Call letters were retained by the owners, & they will be used for their Eastern Long Island "107.1 - WLIR the Box" as soon as they get the FCC approvals to re-use the call letters.
The New station is Not the old 'LIR format & more like NYC's K

Thanks for the info. That is too bad. I'm in Fairfield County, CT and I could get LIR, mainly in the car, as well. I hope former LIR staff get to read these all these postings...WE MISS YOU!!!

LIR is back on the air (107.1) but as has been mentioned previously, it's not the same.
I've relied on the 107.1 feed for years since moving from Metro NY in 1990 to Eastern Ct. Before LIR on the East End, I was suffocating in regards to radio.

Sorry guys, but I considered LIR dead a long time ago.

The music got "pop-y" and the DJs were dopey. Maybe I am living in the past, but give me Bob Wah or Willoughby any day!

I am getting satellite radio next week just to get the New Wave stations.

XM offers programming called "Fred" and Sirius offers "First Wave".
I am getting Sirius, but am waiting for the release of a new FM modulator.

You can listen to streams of both XM an Sirius on their respective websites.
