Clash / "remix the casbah"

I came across this today and thought that my fellow NWO denizens might appreciate this.

I've long been frustrated by the lack of a really decent extended mix of Rock the Casbah ... so, a few years ago I edited one together using the original mix and the "Mustapha Dance" 12" mix.

Let me know what you think, unless of course you don't like it, then just lie and tell me you thought it was great. I hadn't listened to it for some time when I played it again today, and while it's imperfect, I still enjoyed it.

Happy listening.

Mojowkn, you are so awesome. I appreciate how you didn't detract from the integrity of the song, but emphasized it that much more. Well done!

I'm with MAS on that. I can't understand why so many DJ's remix a song to the point of it being unrecognizable. And mash-ups are even worse. If I like the original song, why alter it to the point of confusion? Mojowkn has the right approach. Keep it up.

Great work! How did you edit and mix this thing? Any recommendations regarding a programme as I've always wanted to try this myself?

Thanks, all.

Plastik, I used ACID Pro. There are lots of programs that will work -- I just happened to learn this one. I don't think I even have the newest version (used to be Sonic Foundry; now it's Sony). But I think they have a free version too.

And thanks for the comments on the remix approach -- clearly, I agree with all of you: I like the classic "extended" mix more than the "remix," which in many cases might as well be a cover version.

Does anyone know a programme that seperates the different instruments from a song (e.g. I like the bass line or the drums/percussion and want that for a mix, how can I get only that?)? That would be great. there must be such tools...

Why can't I get this new yousendit download site to work? [V]

I have an account and all.. but I keep getting permission forbidden errors... I am sure I am missing something basic.... Can anyone help? I'd love to hear the mix above!

Funny, The other day I was thinking whether someone had done a RTC vs Mustapha Dance mashup .
Quite nice I must say!
Hope to see more of these type of contributions![^]
