As I'm running out of bands to track down I thought you might give me a hint to what might interest me. I'm looking for synthpop with good voices on vocals. Over the past weeks I liked Moderne's Switch on Bach, Basking Shark's Friends of Bill, Experimental Products´ Glowing in the dark and Ice the Falling Rain's Life's Illusion. Can you recommend something in that style?

I don't know of those bands, but a more newer synthpop band with good voices on vocals, IMO, is the band Iris. Check 'em out!

Do you know of Kings of Convenience's Erlend Oye.. he has a great solo album? Great synth stuff!

I definitely agree that Iris, especially their first album, is incredible.

A few suggestions:

UV Pop: No Songs Tomorrow (great 80s underground synth)
Rational Youth: Cold War Night Life (this 1982(?) album, their first, is an absolute synth-dance masterpiece
Ceramic Hello: Absence of a Canary (awesome John Foxx-esque minimal synth. Vinyl on Demand - http://www.vinyl-on-demand.com - will be reissuing this rare masterpiece with 8 demo tracks from their unreleased second album!)
Soviet: We Are Eyes, We Are Builders (newer stuff from 2000 or so, but one of the best synthpop albums ever, IMO!) Here's the track "Lonely Days". http://download.yousendit.com/64FCB9555AFEBF83

This is early synthpop stuff, circa 1985 from Spain. While I wouldn't say the vocals are great, they are in line with most early synthpop acts. I've got a "home made" sampler of early synth driven stuff called Analogsounds. It has stuff by XEX, Seppuku, Genocide, A Blaze Colour, Antenna, Mekanik Kommando, Cirian Hate. So, I guess it leans early industrial but melodic.

I have to agree that Iris is a great synthpop band. Others I would recommend:

They released three albums, and had some top 40 hits in the Netherlands and Germany.

I believe you can also just put in a "fake" e-mail, like fake@fakemailaddress.com, and it will still give you a download URL.

Of the new bands mentioned above, I have enjoyed the work of Dignity of Labour and am in the process of ordering some Leiahdorus (I was impressed by the single <a href="http://www.cyberus.ca/~cs/Leiahdorus - Wake.mp3">"Wake"</a> which came up on this board awhile ago).

Quite a few bands that I had not heard of though were mentioned in the advice that you're getting. Interesting stuff. For this genre in general I've found <a href="http://www.adifferentdrum.com/">A Different Drum</a> to be an excellent resource for the newer stuff.
