Avengers, the Penelope Houston fronted punksters, had at least this one phenomenal LP from 1983, and also released as a CD. These two tracks are from that release. Penelope Houston went on to release at least 3-4 solo CD's that are pretty fine in their own right, though a far cry from her punk days with Avengers.

Finally, their version of Paint It Black. And for my money, this is THE BEST cover of this song ever....just my opinion. Crank up and enjoy the way this was intended - LOUD. OK, I confess - I like it better than the original, it doesn't get better than this.

Just nit-picking here, but the songs actually date back to 1978. The album was released (not quite legitimately) in 1983 on CD Presents and compiles some singles, studio out-takes, and in the case of the CD a few live tracks as well.

Since the CD Presents was essentially a bootleg, Penelope is selling CD-R copies of it from her web site.

I imagine when anyone indicates an LP date, they usually refer to when it was released. When I list a date, I refer to when it was released. I would guess it would be near impossible to ever list a date correctly otherwise, since many releases may have tracks recorded at different times/dates, yet released on a specific date as an LP or whatever. I don't really keep track of dates they were in the studio recording.

So any dates I indiacte simply are intended as the material was released, or at least on the particular format the record label made available (whether first time or resissued). I am by no means anywhere near an expert at when things were actually recorded, or maybe even released initially as singles, etc.....I look at liner notes for those things if they interest me.

Point taken, though. Much earlier recordings, even if not compiled on that LP until 1983. That I knew from the liner notes, just was indicating the LP release in 1983.

I only mention it because in terms of SF punk rock there was a HUGE difference in sound between stuff from 78 and stuff from 83. I'm not trying to come across as a know-it-all or a smart ass.
