Ok...I think that this would be a good spot to Post AND List any songs that fall under the umbrella of BUBBLEGUM music?
I'll just start with a couple on vinyl rips:
LEIF GARRETT- I Was Made For Dancin- 12" Mix:

LEIF GARRETT- Sheila- LP Version:

please note: these are m4 (ipod files); don't have the time right now to convert, but...in case you have to: I think it's easy to save to disk, then re-save to your own mp3 prog (e.g. Realplayer library will save as mp3's)...

I'm biting my tongue on this one. Momma always said "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all".
Oh shit I can't...
What does LEIF GARRET or Bubblegum for that matter have to do with "New Wave and '80s Alternative"?

hi...well...I was really just trying to be helpful, really...I saw the posts on stuff like Shaun Cassidy and Kristy McNichol...and figgured...instead of having them appear as Seperate posts and filling up the board, it would be neater to consolidate this "genre" requests into one thread...
You can look and see what I'm talking about...these ARE on their currently and not started by me either, but, I DO understand the thoughts on this, and if moderators want to shut this down, no hard feelings, really...

I Agree, the lesser of two evils is to have a single dedicated thread.

"Memorize Your Number" is pretty new wave. Not surprisingly, it's also the most listenable of all of Leif's hits.

Leif's Third LP was actually pretty New Wave; he DID make a good lp and I thought he was going to make the transition better.
The truth is, in those days, fans were much less loyal than nowadays, and, when you look at say, his third and fourth albums, there was no good reasons why they weren't hits, bu todays standards anyway...here's
Memorize Your Number:

Would we say Leif is Novelty? I would have called him a sad try-hard.... but not Novelty.... Novelty would be Alexei Sayle or the Neil fromt he Young Ones or The Men of Harleck or Joe Dolce etc etc...

I'm sure the truth is that Scotti Bros. just turned their promotional resources elsewhere.
And I think the album version of "Number" is better than that mp3. It's not edited at the 1:03 mark, and it goes a little faster. Don't know if the master was sped up for the album, or something got screwed up and mistakenly slowed down when they were making the you-know-what where that came from, but it's more catchy at the faster speed.

No, it's okay, you can say not-nice things about Realplayer.
