Can anyone tell me if the non-U.S. 12" singles by the Stabilizers contain any extended versions or remixes? I've been seeing them online, but see no details about version differences. I'm talking the 12" singles of Tyranny and One Simple Thing.

I have a German 12" with both "One Simple Thing" (4:07) and "Tyranny" (4:29) on it. I think they're identical with the album versions. There's an edited version of "One Simple Thing" (3:31), but I can't tell you what the difference is at the moment. Maybe I'll give it a listen later tonight.

Thanks for the info. That's kinda what I was expecting. I'm surprised that for an 86/87 release, there were no extended mixes. The shorter version of 'One simple thing' is just missing a chunk of the intro.

I have a promo 12" of "Tyranny" somewhere, but I'm positive that -- like a lot of 1980s rock promotional 12"s -- it's just the album version on both sides. I think I've looked at pictures of a European 12" and it's the same there, as well, just with other tracks on the B-side.

Maybe Columbia locked the extended versions away with the masters to their second album.

I thought Tyranny was a great album which went unnoticed by the masses. Why wasn't their second album released and what did the guys do musically after the breakup and where are they now?

I'm also a big fan of "Tyranny" and searched in vain for remixes, as well. "One Simple Thing" was a cool video. Anyway, I would also love to hear those songs that never made it to a second album, but I guess they are in a vault at Columbia somewhere. Here's a blurb on the Stabilizers and their whereabouts:
