The Chant were one of the countless bands that were called R.E.M. imitators, but some of their music had a roots-rock feel to it. From the 1988 album "Two Car Mirage":

Cool tune. What was that other 80's band that had a song called "Wild Blue Yonder"? They also had a song about being Pebbles Flintstone, as I remember it.

The Screaming Blue Messiahs I believe, and the song you are thinking of is "I Wanna Be A Flintstone" they also had a minor hit with "Bikini Red" which was released on red vinyl

Thanks,

"Wild Blue Yonder" was indeed by the Screaming Blue Messiahs, from their US debut LP, Gun Shy.

They seem to be remembered for "I Wanna Be A Flintstone" primarily, which is too bad since a number of their songs are flat-out great rockers and not kinda goofy like "Flintstone". I think these represent their best work:
Sweet Water Pools
Big Brother Muscle
Let's Go Down to the Woods
President Kennedy's Mile

Ah, yes. Screaming Blue Messiahs. Here's the weird part--My music collection is so big, that those songs and more are in it, but I forgot!
