As one of the resident Boingo-ologists, I feel the need given the recent Mystic Knights discussion to post this incredible and rare Boingo song. It's one of my absolute favs and should have received an album release. It cries out to this day, lost and lonely, for an album release. This is "Better Luck Next Time" from the soundtrack to the film Last American Virgin.

Thanks! I didn't have this one. I wish I had some rare tracks to offer but sadly I do not.

Hey Cassfrank,
Do you have any copies of the original (demo version) Aint This The Life (not the version that showed up on the first ep)?
I remeber Jed The Fish used to play it on KROQ but no one else seems to remember. It was much faster than the version that was eventually released.
And by the way thank you for the post.

Yeah, here's the demo version of the song. Much faster -- and a lot more horn work -- than the EP version.

There were a number of cool tracks cut from the EP including a version of Cinderella Undercover, Controller and California Girls.

Glad you liked it Randall!
Here's a great little Boingo tune called "Kiss My Ass". If you saw them on tour in the '90s you may have heard them play it. It was recorded for their last album, the BOINGO ablum, but it was also recorded in the studio for the GOOD FOR YOUR SOUL sessions (my fav.) And so here is the 1983 demo of "Kiss My Ass"

Glad everyone is enjoying these little nuggets. Here is a tune cut from Good For Your Soul, it's called Can't Pretend. Turn it up.

Are there more? On very much so. From all accounts that I've read or heard first hand, Boingo was really prolific in the studio. Every album has a number of tracks that were cut. All of them quite entertaining.
This is a great one from the Dead Man's Party (1985) album, it's called "Elementary Physics" and it's basically a riff on the Weird Science mad-scientist idea. I don't know that much about the history of the song but lyrically it's like an earlier, randier version of "Weird Science." That being said, it's not a "Weird Science" demo -- it's an entirely different song musically.
