Yes, I used to look forward to finding a lost gem or two here. It's been a bit dry lately.

The only thing I had of interest recently is the Personal Column collection.

i think its because of the crackdown on only new wave artists etc.. it was awesome for a time wasnt it? People either left or just don't know what to post.. i mean how many times can someone ask for the same tracks over and over..

well, people were really into posting and it was exciting find 80's things and then some people started drunk posting all kinds of crap and there were complaints about this not being obscure 80's enough etc.. We were starting different threads of covers, new 12 mixes of older songs etc

I remember when smokin' a joint under the bleachers while cutting Chemistry class was exciting too.
Oh, how to recapture that magic!

That's exactly right. What's old hat to someone else may be completely new to you and there's nothing to be ashamed of by being somewhat "behind" some of the savants on this board.
That said I have to admit all the postings asking for songs easily available by searching iTunes or, say, Limewire, do get tiresome. There's a balance that's worth striking.

Well put...if you're looking for something, at least do a bit of legwork. If after doing the legwork you come up dry, ask; chances are somebody here will have it. The net result of all the lazy asses that posted long wishlists was a backlash of non-responsiveness from those who could have helped.

In my case, or others' I suppose, I just CAN'T dig more. All the music I have, is from bought CDs or friends, cause my connection is just 64 comparing to yours, 1024 or more...Have you thought of that ? Just asking for a couple of tracks isn't that bad, is it ? Especially when the one asking, has tried to give too, despite the horrible speed...

I like it the way it is. Ok, maybe traffic is a bit down at the moment but every now and then a good track pops up (latest Doctor's Children)that I haven't known before. That's enough for me. I hated it when people started flooding the place with lots of rubbish from May to July and asked for a lot of easily available songs. Just look at some of threads from that period and you'll get the impression that NWO for some people was nothing but just another spot to grab whatever is available.
