Related to Adam & the Ants...put out a single, early 80's. B-Side is called "Tiger, Tiger". They released a LP called "Call of the Wild" it may or may not be on that LP (because it's a B-side).

Anyone got? No listing in Allmusic.com or RateYourMusic.com

I have the 12"......don't have mp3 though....if anyone does have it I would like it too!

I believe Wikipedia is wrong -- I don't think they ever released an album. As far as I remember, they only released a single, "Call Of The Wild." "Tiger Tiger" was the b-side.

Discogs says that "Call of the Wild" is the title of the 12" so there probably isn't an LP.

I heard that "Tiger, Tiger" has a spaghetti western feel to it. (Trouser Press Jim Green I believe).

Any thoughts?

yeah --- not sure if there ever was an album....I don't remember the B side too well, but to be honest I think the whole thing was pretty forgettable....there was a reason why Adam was so successful...even sans the Ants (well, not including Marco)

You're right, the whole project was pretty forgettable. But ironically, aside from Marco, Merrick was integral to Adam's sound -- Merrick was producer Chris Hughes, who created the Ants' signature tribal sound. Hughes also produced Tears For Fears' "The Hurting" and "Songs From The Big Chair"; Wang Chung's "Points On The Curve"; Polecats' "Make A Circuit With Me"; Vitamin Z "Rites Of Passage"; not to mention Paul McCartney, Pete Townshend, Robert Plant, Howard Jones and many others.

do you mean Merrick WAS Chris Hughes?? wow that is interesting --- as I have always admired Chris Hughes productions....if so, why did this solo project blow so hard?....[:p]

"Call of the Wild" is great. Light years ahead of practically everything on Adam Ant's lame "Strip" and "Vive le Rock" albums.

"Tiger Tiger" isn't as good, but still superior to trash like "Baby, Let Me Scream at You."

OK - granted both Strip and Vive Le Rock suck...really suck, but is anybody a winner in a three way crap fest?.....there's a reason a second Merrick Tibbs single wasnt made....

Amen to that. Stand & Deliver, Fall In, Ants Invasion, and Zerox would round out my top 5. I was an Ants fanatic but Adam's solo stuff never did much for me. The only song I really liked of his solo stuff was "Place In The Country".

But I also really like "Navel to Neck" and Libertine from the Strip album. Did not bother getting the Viva la Rock album (other than the 12 inch version of Appolo 9, which I would love to have on MP3 if anyone has it)... He made a decent comeback with the wonderful album which is good from top to bottom.

I used to have "Call Of The Wild" and "Tiger Tiger" on a cassette; they sounded like second rate B-sides from Kings of the Wild Frontier-era Ants without Adam on vocals.

Still, I'd like to have hi-rez MP3s of them just since I am a completist!
