I don't have the album, but I have a few scattered 7" and 12" singles. "Give Me," of course, being the best -- the U.S. mix being better than the U.K. one.

Give Me is great but again there is nothing on this album that is not great in my opinion. Album came out in '83. I worked in college radio, read a glowing review in CMJ and gave it a listen. I Sometimes I think I'm the only one still listening to this album.

I'm not familiar with the album, but I really like a b-side from one of their singles. Of course I am blanking on the song's name, but it is an apartment number (something like Number 3 or similar). The lyrics tell of the singer's love/lust for the girl who lives in the apartment. Great song! Not sure if it is on the album.

I first discovered them back in 1984. I have always considered their s/t album to be one of my favorites. "Stone Heart" is an excellent track yet the whole album is great. Hopefully, this album will get the appropriate cd release someday?

I reviewed their Epic LP, gave it an excellent review, a must buy, etc. Never heard anything from them again, will have to check my record collection to find it, cannot even remember the title of the album, or was it self-titled? Anyway, I remmeber playing every track and enjoying them.

"Number 4" was the title. A very haunting melody.

Yes I especially like the B-side of Give Me 12" called 3AM or something. IIRC two of them were previously in a band called Shake/Shake and had worked with John Foxx. They sounded a bit like B-52's then. One of the members was also in a group called Gardening By Moonlight.

They had a second album in 1985 -- "Shake." I think Epic took a pass on it in the States, although they sent out promo copies of one of the singles, "In the River," to radio stations. I'm looking at a WLP 7" right now.

It contains 3 further singles, "New Day," "Our Song" and "In the Sand," only one of which I've heard.

I had one of the follow-up 45's. Can't remember which. At the time, the songs didn't stand out to me. This 45 was still on Epic. Was the 2nd album released in the UK? I have a book on charting albums and singles in the UK and a 2nd release is not listed. The 1st album reached #50 in the UK and singles Minefield went to #52 and Teacher went to 56.

It was a Europe-only release on Virgin, but I don't know what countries specifically. "In the River" is the one that goes "Arms stretched out across the river." Or maybe it was "I'm stretched out across the river."

allmusic.com's writeup has mistakes in it. "Give Me" was nowhere near a Top 5 R&B hit (they never even made the R&B Top 100 with anything), while "Minefield" was the bigger dance/disco smash.

According to the allmusic guide "Number 4" is on the album.

[/quote]What a great Brit funk flashback tune to '82ish.

Very much in the same musical vein IMO as Loose Joints or Imagination ('Changes') or even Junior (Mamma Used To Say). It is also musically akin to Slave/Steve Arrington's (Just a Touch of Love) and Booker T - (Don't Stop Your Love) all of these made for some great roller rink music.
