Anyone want some Swiss cheese from the 80s? Here's some tracks by Swiss bands you probably never have heared of. As far as I know they were only released on vinyl and definitely out of print. Enjoy it!

Hey! Thanks mondino! Those are great! Much appreciated. [:D]

I especially like the Starter song "Minijupe" and was wondering what you could tell me about the band? I particularly liked that one.

I am guessing (maybe wrong) that the song title "Minijupe" is taken from the old Jacques Dutronc song "Mini Mini Mini":

Petit, petit, petit
Tout est mini dans notre vie
Mini-moke et mini-jupe
Mini-moche et lilliput
Il est mini Docteur Schweitzer
Mini mini ça manque d'air
Mini-jupe et mini-moque
Miniature de quoi j'me moque
Ministère et terminus
Minimum et minibus

Petit, petit, petit
Tout est mini dans notre vie
Mini-moke et mini-jupe
Mini-moche et lilliput
Il est mini Docteur Schweitzer
Mini mini ça manque d'air
Mini, mini, mini
Mini, mini, mini, mini

Moi je préfère les maxis
Maxi-moke et maxi-jupe
Maxi-moche et maxi-pute
Il est maxi Docteur Schweitzer
Maxi maxi ça respire l'air
Maxitère et termaxus
Maximum et maxibus
Maxistère et termaxus
Maximum et maxibus
Maxistère et termaxus

It's always awesome to have others share some real interesting and obscure stuff. Thank you!

It's a totally different song. Starter have released their self-titled debut album in 1981. Minijupe has been released on 7" and most probably there were other releases from that album. Unfortunately "Starter" remains their only album. Trying to dig out some more information and will post them later.

No, I wasn't saying that it was the same song. I was asking if maybe that is where they got the title "Minijupe" from . . . from the line in the Jacques Dutronc song. What is "mini-jupe"?

Here is the 1960s Jacques Dutronc song "Mini, Mini, Mini". It contains the lyric "mini-jupe" and I thought that is where Starter may have gotten the title for their song - it's actually a really awesome song by the way:

Minijupe is the French word for miniskirt. I guess Starter had an other source of inspiration than Jacques Dutronc's song. Stephan Eicher of Grauzone has also released a minimal wave song called "Miniminijupe" in the early 80s. Seems that French speaking singers are maybe more attracted to this subject than others :-)

Here's some more Swiss cheese:

Here's two more tracks. As you can figure out by the name of the songs it's German vocals this time.

The next two tracks are taken from a cassette compilation called "Misch Masch Tape". It has been released in 1981 and contains one track by Grauzone and another one by Stephan Eicher. Most of you will know Grauzone from their cult hit "Eisbär".

Grauzone - Film 1

Stephan Eicher - Hungriges Afrika

For some these songs might be too minimal/experimental, but then again if you are familiar with Eicher and Grauzone you will know that "Film 1" is very, very rare. "Hungriges Afrika" has been released on a flexipop sampler as far as I know.

Yay, I love that song!

I have the 1998 compilation album "Die Sunrise Tapes" and it's so damn good!!!, so much that I don't mind not knowing whatever the hell the songs are about![:D] It contains Film 2.
