Alison Moyet B-Sides?

I go through phases where all I can listen to is Alison Moyet--this is one of thise times. I Love her voice, she's one of my all-times. Someone mentioned her on one of the other threads here and it got me going again. Hey, she was all I listened to in 10th grade. And back then she only had Alf out! Anyway, I have all of her mixes on vinyl and "Baby I Do" on MP3...So if anyone would like share "Hitch Hike" I'd really love it! I can also trade mixes if anyone would like to! Here are a coulpe to get things started: Junior Vasquez mix of "Ode To Boy". It's quite marvelous. Also, here's the 12" for "All Cried Out".

Ah, Alison Moyet. I always thought she had a great voice. Been searching for the single version of 'For you only' (often referred to as 'new version' or 'new vocal version' only on vinyl) for quite some time. It is different from the lp version somehow, but sadly I could never get it...maybe you're able to end my painful quest? [:p]

Hi bateman...Here's that version. To me, it's not as good as the minimal LP version, but I'm sure CBS was attempting to make a hit record out of it when they beefed it up and released it. This is the 12" version. The 7" version sounds exactly the same, but shorter. I've always thought that the sax sounded a bit perpendicular with the song--which is tons more effective in a less-is-more setting. The LP version could have been edited for radio and "Twisting The Knife" (my favorite Alison track) could have been mixed for the b-side and clubs. Better results would have perhaps fared for everyone. But nobody asked me. Anyway, give this a listen...Got more if you're interested.

Cool, thanks! Finally...[8D] The mix makes the song sound somewhat more positive, the feeling of the lp version was completely different from what I remember. If I had to nail down a personal favorite of her I guess it would be 'Where hides sleep' - there's something really peaceful to this song.

I keep watching for those songs you mentioned. Maybe I already have them somewhere...

Awesome video! I remember seeing that year & years ago, but it was terrific to see it again. I've always thought that not only was Alison one of the best voices to come out of the 80s, but one of the best looks, as well. Even today she has a face and a simplified style that surpasses anything a current hitmaker has to offer. I particilarly think her look in the "Don't Go" video is the coolest.

Still looking for MP3s of "Hitch Hike" & "Don't Burn Down The Bridges". Have more to trade if anyone's looking for something.

Holy @#^$(*^@! That's one the very best rips from vinyl I have ever heard, mo! Awesome that you're so good at it. I always end up with catastrophy when I've ever attemped it myself. I think it even sounds better than my highly protected vinyl version. I look forward to your handiwork with "...Bridges"!

OK, turns out I don't have "don't burn down the bridges". What's it on? I have four or five alf 12"s ... but not that one. I've been picking them up little by little as I come across them in used shops.

"Don't Burn Down The Bridges" was the b-side to "That Ole Devil Called Love" 12". I believe there's a 12" and a 7" version. I only have the 12" version and I've never actually laid eyes on the 7". It's the only--well, probably the only--thing of hers I don't have on MP3. Been looking for it for a while now.

OK -- I'll keep an eye out for it. On a related note, I picked up the 12" for the Love Resurrection (Love Injected Mix) for a buck in a clearance bin a few months ago and just got around to playing it -- it's superior to the regular extended mix, IMHO and BTW.

Hey mo...I have many of Alison's 12" versions on MP3 already, so if there's anything that you've been looking for on vinyl perhaps I can supply you with something. You're right about the Love Injected Mix of "Love Resurrection", it is much better, beefier. There's also a terrible mix for "Invisible' which is really just an insipid extended mix of the song. I think I got it on the UK 12". The Transparent Mix is much better.

Here's the promo mix that was issued in the US for "Hoodoo". It was mixed by Francois Kavorkian. I bought and import CD-single of "Whispering Your Name" when it was released and was thrilled that the version of "Hoodoo" included on it was indeed this promo mix. Nowhere on the insert, other than in the fineprint, was it indicated that that's what it was. Hope you like!
