This great contribution got my friend and I talking, and looking for the song "Come Back Friday," which seemed to us to be the main tune from this band that made it big here on the US West Coast. But there really doesn't seem to be much info about this song on the internet. Near as I can gather it was only a B-side of a UK single? Any info about the song (and any possible availability) would be appreciated!

That's correct. B-side of "Bona Venture" (which was a single outside of the U.S.) and never released in the U.S., as far as I know. The American division of RCA seemed to go out of their way to avoid putting it out.

The only song I recall getting any airplay on 91X in San Diego and here in Arizona was Chicken Outlaw, don't recall hearing "Come Back Friday" but would like to!

Well, it looks like we've got two votes here that 91X definitely played "Come Back Friday", at least way, way back. In fact we'd both taped the song independently off the air. I'm pretty sure I'd stopped listening to 91X by '85 or so, so it'd have to be in the first couple years I guess. Also, we can't remember hearing any of the five other tunes donated here. It's interesting, since you really do see some references on the web to the other songs, as well as inclusion on some 80's compilations. And all the while the only song we'd heard down here was some obscure B-side. It's really great that people contribute and help me learn more about these bands.

Wow, thanks so much. There was no way I was going to find my radio tape of that song.

I don't know the band well enough to know if it's their "best" tune, but it's really great. Also, it does seem to be a different style than the more "popular" tunes that were just posted.

And Randy- I took your file and converted it into the less dreaded mp3 format just in case anyone would prefer.

AND I'd probably look like less of a dork if I'd actually given a link. [:(]

Anybody still out there who might still have a tune or two? I've got mp3s of Slang Teacher, Ravers Red Light and Chicken Outlaw, but I really want Whooping on the Roof ...
