Share: Monsoon Ever So Lonely 7" (sort of)

I had recently thrown up a REQ for the 7" version, and in the meantime came across a very very bad rip, and used that as a "guide" and made my own
7" mix using bits from a few common CD versions.

If you have the Ever So Lonely single, or a poor quality rip like the one I found
to compare it to, you'll note it is musically identical.

As far as I know the 7" (short) mix of ESL has never been on any CD, so for now this "faked" version may be as close as we can get.

DL it right here: http://www.mediafire.com/?wjbiss2mica1kns

Still after a Real Good Rip if anyone can post one. Thanks!

Might be on this CD compilation:
http://www.discogs.com/Various-100-Hits ... se/1821031

Lists the 4:17 minute version.

I have the 7", but i'm not setup to record audio right now.

All the best,
eighties

Hey eighties,

I don't know the origin of the 4:17 (18-19) minute version, but
the 7" mix clocks at about 3:53. My "fake" single mix is 3:55,
but that's counting a 1 second lead-in and 1 second lead-out after the fade.

I'd still like to know where that oddball 4:something version originated.
It's not the 7" tho, but it's the version that tends to show up on various compilations. So far as I know it was never on any "official" Monsoon release.
Compare my fake to your single, and you'll see they are identical. Give a listen!

I have a 7" (this one: http://www.discogs.com/Monsoon-Ever-So- ... ease/28006) and it clocks at 4.23, so it's not a "fake" but a general release and a hit version.

How interesting...then I have to wonder if the 3:53 version
is some other single? I've always known the 7" to be shorter.
Very strange, to say the least!

Anyway, the one I created is synced right up to a 7" record rip,
tho a bad one, lots of hiss & crackle.

I just checked the Discogs, it seems the shorter version was used for the overseas releases only and is secondary to the UK one (which is also on the album AFAIK). I've never seen this short one but here seems to be it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7GEdO0fPvI - at least the timing is right.

Fair enough. I suppose for clarity's sake then the version I made/faked
from bits of other CD versions is intended to emulate the shorter, perhaps lesser known 7" single version, which has yet to see the light of day as an authentic CD release, so far as I know.

The 4 minute plus version, if that is a more "common" single version is
available on at least a few CD compilations that I know of.

Not much of a difference, just thought some folks here who are into Monsoon
would enjoy a CD sounding alternate single version, since even a bad rip of the single seems hard to come by.

I also bought and ripped the 1982 IndiPOP CompilASIAN LP, and cleaned all the tracks up. It features the rare Monsoon track Shout! (Till You're Heard) from the original 4 track Monsoon 7" EP. The other 3 tracks have been on CDs, but not that one. I can post it if anyone wants it. Better sounding and better quality than the 4 track EP ripped version I posted some time ago.

Sundayguy, please post that track, I'm curious to hear it.

Actually, Monsoon have several tracks from singles that are not on their CD, so a complete overview could be a nice thing...

Here are the tracks from the 1981 7" 4 track EP.

http://www.mediafire.com/?j3u5k753lzb4xto

The A & B sides of the original EP
A-1 Ever So Lonely (EP version)
A-2 Sunset Over The Ganges (left off here, as it's on the Monsoon CD)
B-1 Mirror Of Your Mind
B-2 Shout! (Till You're Heard)

Ever So Lonely, and Mirror Of Your Mind are taken from the long out
of print CD History Of Indipop - The First 10 Years,
Sunset Over The Ganges is available on the Monsoon CD still in print.
I have the EP, it's the same version, no changes.
Shout! (Till You're Heard) I ripped from the LP Indipop CompilASIAN
long out of print.

As far as any other Monsoon tracks, the only ones I know of that were single (B-Sides, etc.) are Indian Princess, Sunset Over The Ganges,
and the Dub version of Ever So Lonely. The original 12" mix of ESL has only a couple seconds near the intro that differ from the LP release.
There were a couple of Hindi vocal versions, also on the Monsoon CD.

You can hear the hindi version of ESL from the scarce "wings of the dawn" 12inch single on soundcloud.

A couple B-sides and the Hindi tracks are all on the "Monsoon Ft. Sheila Chandra" CD. Also there are a couple versions of horrid hip-hop sounding remixes of Ever So Lonely on that CD, as well.
IMO they should've left off the remixes, and included the 4 track EP in CD form, instead

You're welcome laughingdragon, glad you got to have a listen. Sorry for having to leave off Sunset Over The Ganges (a great Monsoon track, IMO) but because the Monsoon Ft. Sheila Chandra CD is still available including it would've been a no-no.
If you have that particular CD you can add in that missing track from it. It's the same exact version as on the original 7" EP so will fit right in! [:D]
