"NRG" Inc Ft Gary Numan Radio Track Found??

Postby Sundayguy » Tue Sep 10, 2013 6:56 am

I was recently sorting files on a years old hard drive and came across this track which I think COULD BE the elusive track 1 of the Radio CD-(R) single,
NRG Inc Ft. Gary Numan Radio (Radio Mix).

It's different than than other 2 versions of "Radio" that are all over the web.
Sounds like it's been run through a phase shifter, or a flanger, but the time is
right, at 3:40.

I'll link you to it, and would appreciate if anyone willing will give it a listen, and see if it's possible to confirm this really IS track 1 Radio (Radio Mix)

Here's the link: http://www.mediafire.com/?d3m399cgv0ebbv2

Comments, feedback, confirmation welcome! Thanks all

Hi again Sundayguy! Ok i've dug out my book for you and i can report the following...

NRG featuring Gary Numan: Radio. Released 1997. Radio (Radio mix) 3:40, Radio (Extended mix) 4.53, Radio (Heart mix) 3:53. This ultra rare promo CD was remixed by 'NRG Inc.' The three tracks were basically supurb dance remixes of the 1987 song 'Radio heart'. These mixes are still avavilable to buy direct from The Record Label website...

I tried when i read this book and that last part wasn't true BTW. So it seems you may be right. The Heart mix and the Extended mix would be the ones shared it seems. How did you know that it was those two and not the Radio mix? Seems strange that one mix was missing. My only thought is that the sharer wanted one mix to stay very exclusive but that thought doesn't hold too much water TBH.

Hi Neil, I found 2 tracks in 2 places online. One of them has 2 versions, tho they are tagged as only 7" and 12" mix. From the other source 1 track is labeled (Radio Mix) in the "title" but when I open the Properties THERE it's listed as (Heart Mix) and even says Track 3. Oddly enough, the version simply labeled (7") is listed as track 1 which would lead one to believe it's the (Radio Mix) as 1st track of the CD, but the 7" and the Radio/and/or/Heart mix are identical, so still a lot of confused speculation as to which track is which, and which is the still "missing" track. I'm hoping someone with the actual CD can rip them direct from disc, and share, fingers still crossed. Thanks for the additional info!

Maybe someone out there knows if track 1 (Radio Mix) and track 3 (Heart Mix) are the same, or can point out what any differences are? The track lengths are identical, from info I've found. Still hoping someone can share, if the 2 versions are not the same. Thanks!

Looking at your last post again i have to point out that tracks i and 3 on a CD single can't be the same and are not even same length (3:40 and 3:53)!

Dang, this is so bugging me. It'll be a mystery 'til all 3 tracks turn up.

Here's a link to a Numan fan site, with a pic of the CD sleeve, which lists tracks 1 and 3 as each being 3:40

http://www.numanme.co.uk/numanme/radio.htm

If your info is correct, then the easily found on the web track would actually be track 3 Heart Mix, mislabeled as track 1 Radio Mix, by the length. So that would make track 1 Radio Mix (the shortest version) the still elusive missing track. Arrggghhh Someone please post it!!

Hmmm yes i'd trust Electronic Pioneer well over what the cover says so yes if it's different from the cover then i guess there's a genuine reason for putting it in the book (timed himself i'd say). Where is the 4th track he mentions on the cover only? I can't see it anywhere. The worst thing is i never heard of this then (maybe when Nicholson / Numan was released) i'd heard that this CD was still available from the web store. I tried but couldn't get any luck so if what i read was true at time of print i JUST missed out on getting this CD some years later. I think it's scarcity was because no f***er knew of it's existance! Maybe someone from the webstore or a customer knew these facts and decided to buy up all remaining stock. Who knows? The mystery continues. And who posted 2 tracks but not the 3rd one? Was that on purpose? Probably... BTW as i type this i'm listening to the new album in FULL... I have it... Absolutely brilliant. Honestly. Better than any of Dead Moon falling, Dead Son Rising, Jagged, Pure, Exile, Sacrifice.

Hey Neil, Yeah I gave a listen to the new album, too. I think it's got "something" that was not quite there on previous releases, maybe more
power or more punch. I really liked Sacrifice as a concept and a musical direction, but honestly I'd hoped that maybe after Pure Numan would've gone on to some other type of sound. I miss the Berserker/The Fury days. At my age this whole NIN dark/electro/goth/whatever it is is a little too intense. At any rate any new Numan is better than no new Numan at all. It's still going to bug me that Radio (Radio Mix) Seems to be the one track from the single that's "missing"

I've only got into Numan since about 1987 and big time since about 1992 (saw him in 1993 for the first time, 'Dream Corrosion') and will see him next month for the 33rd time i think - far more than any other artist). I should've mentioned i love every album to death since 1994 - 'Sacrifice'. I also love the early stuff and all middle periods including what you mention. He's my fav artist!

It's a shame that you edited post one instead of just adding another post as it makes this a bit confusing now. Anyhow, i've finally got around to burning the CD of all 3 tracks. As you state that upload of 2 tracks does state on my download also that it's the Radio mix but on another part of the tag it clearly states it's the Heart mix and track 3 which answers the whole debate really (it's obviously track 3 Heart mix) and length concurs with that. Have you noticed that the track you have provided a link too - the real track 1 Radio mix (despite being 192kbps - the same as the other two) sounds like it's been recorded up a cow's anus unlike the other 2 tracks. It sounds really really bad!

Hey Neil,

Ah, sorry for the confusion. I found ANOTHER "shorter" perhaps actual track 1 Radio Mix, but it doesn't sound all weird like the one I linked to. This other version I tracked down is identical to track 3 Heart Mix, only it fades out sooner, so I'm not sure if this is actually track 1 or what! Sure would be nice if someone who had this CD single could rip it and share it to end the confusion once and for all hint hint, nudge nudge, wink wink

As an aside, I do realise that in several other cases titles listed as "radio mix" or "radio edit" are very often just shorter versions of the track, rather than an entirely different version, so this "better" one I dug up MAY in fact be track 1 "Radio Mix" for all I know. The timing is right, so...Uuuuggghhhhh....
