Today's Rubellan Remaster share is my newly remastered U.S. remixes of the Sparks 1979 Disco/Wave single 'Tryouts for the Human Race'. The single and extended remixes were unique to the U.S., and not the same as on the UK 7" or 12". These are by far the best versions of the song.

OK I'm confused. I thought I had the only 'single' version of this song. It's on an Elektra Asylum promo 12", backed with 'Beat the Clock'. Both these versions are different (longer) from their respective LP versions-- 'Tryouts' lasts 7:54 and 'Beat the Clock' lasts 6:44. I'm not finding the exact version on Discogs-- they have listed the US promo of 'Tryouts' listed as AS-11412-A, which is what is shown on the a-side of my record... on the b-side is AS-11412-C, but on Discogs I don't see that cat number or indeed any US version of 'Beat the Clock'. Any info?

At one time I had that same promo that you have. This promo (Ermm! ?technically? because it is a promo copy) does not have a traditional (b-side)

There are two different US promos that contain "Tryouts for the Human Race". The version you have "AS-11412-C" can be seen in the link below.

I think you might have mistakenly thought that Rubellan's post included a special US version of "Beat The Clock", it only has two version of "Tryouts for the Human Race" and does not include any version of "Beat The Clock".
