Fiat Lux It never hurts to ask

Every now and again I drop Cherry Red an email requesting they get hold of some Fiat Lux and actually get a long overdue CD release. Not had a response before but got this today -

"Many thanks for your message to Cherry Red. We've tried to license their material before without success. It remains of interest to us but it needs a change of heart from the rights owner. With best wishesTim @ Cherry Red"

I wonder who the present rights owners are and why they're sitting on it?

Hi,

In 2009 Cherry Red got in touch with me via my website asking if I could put them in contact with the band regarding a possible CD release. I got them in touch with David Crickmore and was asked by Cherry Red at the time not to put anything on my website about it while they looked into things. Years passed and nothing.....

Their catalogue is looked after by Universal now, so the chances of the label knowing where the master tapes are, let alone wanting to do a deal to release a CD, are slim to non-existant I'm afraid.

Frustrating for everyone....

Why not just remaster it ourselves off of vinyl (probably even better than any Cherry Red remaster) and sell it digitally, giving the majority of the proceeds to the band? Well all be dead by the time the labels get their act together.
