Request: Soft Cell "What!"

Postby Fred Taghon » Tue Mar 01, 2016 4:11 pm

I just realized that somehow I don't have the Single Version (2:52) of Soft Cell's "What!" from 1982. The only CD I can see it was ever released on so far was the "Now! That's What I Call Music: 1982" release from 1999. Does anyone have this version in FLAC or WAV? Thanks!

This version really not available on any of the SC CD's to date? Amazing if true. Another highly overlooked omission especially considering the amount of SC CD's released to date (all of which i own). Many thanks for the share i took it incase answer is negative

The 7" version is available as a bonus on 1998 CD of Erotic Cabaret, never thought it to be a rarity...

Fred, I managed to download some more Kraftwerk B-sides, do you have time or interest to try to recreate them?

Yes, I'll do that soon - in fact the only one I'm missing now is the "Europe Endless" edit from the UK 7"s of Trans Europe Express and Showroom Dummies from 1977. That's so elusive I'm a bit depressed about it - not even a 96 kbps mp3! And the vinyls are hideously expensive, like they're made of gold :(

As for Soft Cell rarities here's what I'd like to have:

Heat 3:54 (edited version from the US 7")
Loving You, Hating Me (Special Mix) 7:50

And these ones from the reformed duo:

God Shaped Hole
Dancing Alone 5.12
Perversity 3.48

It looks like the 7" version is on the 1996 release of "Non Stop Erotic Caberet" according to discogs? I have the 2002 USA release and it's NOT on that one.

Yes, Passing_Stranger, I can try tackling some more Kraftwerk tracks if you'd like to share!

Or a clean rip of Say Hello Wave Goodbye (instrumental)?

All I have is a vinyl rip full of clicks and pops

Oh yes! I didn't mention it because I already have two different vinyl rips - full of clicks and pops too :D It's really strange that this one is nowhere to be found on CD. Clearly someone has to do a compilation of those instrumental and dub versions as they are usually neglected on reissues.
