I can't seem to find the 7" version of "(It's Not Me) Talking" anywhere. If it's just an edit of the album version, I'd love to re-create it. Does anyone have an MP3 of the vinyl 7" they can share here? USA 7" says 3:29 UK 7" says 3:36

Here it is - as far as I can tell, not really an edit of an album version but a bit of a remix so I don't know if it's possible to recreate it. Still, worth a try

Thank you for sharing this! Yep, there's no way I can recreate this one lol. It's a pretty radical remix from the album version actually, but I'm glad to at least KNOW the difference, and it makes for an interesting listen. Too bad this version hasn't been on any CD release (as far as I know). I have the original Cocteau 12" which, although released in 1983, is actually the 1981 recording and it is also much different from the "Listen" album version. Unfortunately, while my 12" is in mint condition it's a pretty poor pressing and sounds fairly distorted. Wish that one, along with B-side "Factory Music" would also find it's way to CD!

Well, actually 1983 7" remix IS on CD - on various artists compilation "The Indie Scene 1981", no doubt confused with the original 7" (which is different from the version on 1983 12", by the way ) when compiled. But yes, not on any proper AFOS anthology. That's depressing - but then again, their 7"s are so poorly represented it's something!

True, most of their 7" mixes are not on CD. But I remastered them and created my own collection called A Flock of Singles. I listen to it a lot because some of the lesser singles are more tolerable in their shorter version than longer LP version.

And I do have that 1983 Cocteau 12" and it's also really distorted. I thought I just got a dud and was considering buying another. To manually clean up the distortion will take FOREVER, so I may do without.
