I read that there was supposed to be a dub version of this song on the Very Best Of disc but it was rejected. Has this dub version ever surfaced?

I think there was a compilation called Method of Dance that had what what was a re-edit of the instrumental version version found on Love & Dancing and it was at the original BPM not sped up like it was on L&D. Pretty sure sure I have it from a FLAC download but I'm at work at the moment. Can check later. Not a drastic departure from what we are familiar with, as I recall.

are you sure you're not confusing it with 'do or die'.. i have the cd (which has both volumes), and the lp of 'methods of dance', and
it only has 'do or die (special edit)' on it.

Oops you are absolutely correct negative1! Sorry about that! In that case, then, no, I am not aware of an "Open Your Heart" Dub. Though it makes sense that one might exist since there is an instrumental mix of it that appears on "Love & Dancing" as well as the mix that has "Non-Stop" inserted in the middle of it (which is on the "Dare/Fascination!" reissue.

The instrumental is really a dub, like any alternate versions Martin Rushent was involved in.. The one of Love and Dancing is the same as the one in the middle of the Non-Stop/Open Your Heart instrumental on the 12 inch. It just has the beginning and end cut off, like most songs on the b-side of Love and Dancing.

I would be more interested in a full version of 'Seconds', have to say.

I agree with you on Seconds. I figure that the OYH instrumental would be closest to a dub version.

I third that. "Seconds" is an absolute masterpiece.
