Curious if anyone out there has the 7" single of "I Got The Message" by Men Without Hats they can share here? I'd like to re-create the 7" edit using the album version from the "Rhythm Of Youth" CD.

According to Discogs, the UK 7" is 3:20 and the USA 7" is 3:30. Chances are good these are the same versions, though. The only thing I can find on YouTube is the official video which is definitely an edit, but it ends at 3:08 and it seems like the music was faded way too early?

I have the 7" - but nothing to digitize it on So second that request, please.

Here is a fresh rip from the UK 7" single to WAV.
The track time on the label is 3:34, which is pretty much spot on. It doesn't appear to be an early fade of the album version.

EDIT: Looking on Discogs, the original UK release from 1982 (STAT 20), as seen here:

has a running time of 3:20 and gives a remix credit to Tony Cousins. No mention of him on the 1983 UK release (TAK 14), so potentially we have another version to track down.

Thanks for that! It's interesting that your 7" is a different edit than the official video I found on youtube. But I assume the USA 7" is very likely the same as yours.

I hadn't noticed that 1982 7" with a remix credit before!

Is your 7" the UK or USA release? If its USA can you at least verify that it's the same edit as the one retromusic uploaded?

Presumably the UK one. But I'm not sure it was released in the US - the follow-up to "Safety dance" there was "I like", while overseas got "Message".

Yes "I Like" followed "The Safety Dance" in the USA, but apparently "I Got The Message" followed "I Like":
