Big Pig - “Break Away” (“Breakaway” ?) Best Sound Quality?

Postby FrogLantern » Thu Jul 08, 2021 7:43 pm

This is a song that I love, but seems to have some weirdness in terms of sound quality.

Maybe it’s just my ears, but listening to this track from the usual sources seems to include some strange digital clipping noises during the early guitar portions of the song.

Bad Source Example(?):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJpuE-ABtCs

Notice the jarring digital noise around 14 seconds? Every MP3 or FLAC I find seems to carry this bad sound.

Stumbled upon these youtube videos that seem to have used a better source…
Good Source Examples(?):

If anybody else hears the difference here, please point me in the direction to a high quality source of the good sounding master. Please and thank you.

Have you ever tried a copy of the 12" maxi-single rip by DJ Paul T, (Burning The Ground) ?
It's not the album version but...

Something I learned about this song in 2020 is that it's a cover. Originally released in 1973 by Chuck Jackson...

Yes, I have tried that source. I appreciate the response, but --as you mentioned-- what I'm really after is the album version that appears on the BONK album (and on the Bill & Ted Soundtrack). The mixes found here are simply far too different.

Sorry if other folks don't hear the difference in the youtube links. Hard to describe what I'm hearing, but my ears are offended by some glitchy sounds whenever those early guitar stings hit.
